Anyone running an aluminum commercial cap (DCU, DCC, Tradesman etc) on a DCSB that could post some pictures and comments? Especially one that's slightly taller than cab high.

    TIA - dman100

    Bump for interest

I have a DCSB, but I didn't order an Aluminim Cap. I ordered the LEER 100 RCC, it their contractor model. Cab height, weight limit of 450 pounds. I am soooooo hoping it comes in this week.

I would like to see some the Aluminim ones though...

Bump, interested in this as well. Any commercial canopies that fit the DCSB specifically? I would really like an Alu-Cab Explorer, but their distro channels in the US are very new and I don't think they are carrying the canopies yet. I saw a few on Hilux trucks in Australia last Fall when I was down there and really liked them.

^^^ This. Absolutely don't understand how there aren't shells like this made here in the US, let alone not even available here. Rugged, dust and waterproof, and honestly this type of construction doesn't have to be any more expensive than Leer, ARE, Tradesman type fabbed and welded shells.

Agreed. The Explorer would be pretty handy on a Tacoma I think. http://alu-cab.co.za/index.php/standard-products/explorer-canopy They don't appear any more challenging to build than some of the other contractors caps on the market. I like the looks, its more subtle and close to cab height too which would be nice for garage height issues if you have anything on the roof.

@Thelgord Thanks for the video. That is exactly what I am after. I really wish we could get the Bushtech or Alu-Cabs here in the US. They are way better built than the cheap contractor canopies I have seen/tried. The modular interior with bed racks for boxes was cool too. I might have to look into something like that.

A lot of those south Arfican Companies have a way to ship to the U.S., though I imagine it isn't very cheap for something of that size.

You can ship a lot of caps in a 40ft container. The question is if there are enough people that want these caps? They would cost around $1800-2000.

OK4wd in New Jersey has apparently started importing AluCab's rooftop tents, and implies that canopies may be available. http://ok4wd.com/shop-by-vendor/alucab

In fact now I see that @irish_11 has let them know on ExPo about our interest here on TW, and they may be available soon in the US.

Considering I am paying $2300 for a Leer 100RCC not bad. The 100RCC is the "contractor model" with a 450lb load rating on top. Still a heck of a deal.

450Lb is not enough when you want to put a top tent for sleeping 2-3 people.... that numbers are based on the general size of the local population... in short... we eat to much and going camping is no reason to start a diet.

Hey everybody. Just wanted to introduce myself and see if I can answer any questions about the Alu-cab equipment. My name is Walt and I own Tactical Application Vehicles llc. out of Albuquerque, NM. I am one of the few Alu-cab dealers in the U.S. and I'm currently running the long bed topper on our 09 Tacoma named "Ranger Goat" if you see it referenced somewhere. Here are a few pics.

Awesome. I was just drooling over your rig on Instagram yesterday. What is the availability of the Alu-Cab Canopies for the short beds?

Here is Walt's instagram fyi: https://www.instagram.com/tavllc/ (as a fellow FJ40 guy I started following you before my entry into 2nd Gens)

Thanks man! There is a shipment of toppers, tents awnings and drawer systems coming into the U.S. next month. Both in black and silver. The top you see on my truck is a prototype for the long bed tacoma and has been changed slightly for both short and long bed trucks.

I hope we get to see more of this, Walt. I know you're new to the site, but you don't appear to be "green" by any means. (see what I did there?) Eventual build page for more detail/specs on the truck?

Hahaha I caught that! Thanks! I'll do my best to get everyone's questions answered and a build thread together for these trucks but I stay super busy in the shop and its hard to sit down and get everything uploaded. I'll be putting everything on our new website as well.

I have a Leer 100XR but I really want one of these Alu-Cab canopies probably by the end of the year or early next year if they'll be avaliable by then
