Fill every storage niche in the truck with what you use every day at your house. Anyplace you can cram something in, do so.

The door storage compartments and cupholders can hold a lot of useful items instead of being empty all the time. Map pockets behind the front seats the same.

For tools I'm using a 5-gallon bucket with a bucket organizer, holds a complete selection of tools outside plus capacity inside the bucket for fix-a-flats, whatever. Another 5-gallon bucket has bota bags for water, towels, whatever. The two buckets weigh maybe 100 lbs total.

Inverter is a must have if the truck isn't equipped with one, keeps the jumppack/air compressor charged along with rechargeable AA and AAA batteries for your headlamps, flashlights, etc.

    The bucket organizer is genius.

The bucket by itself would also be handy in a lot of other situations too.

Gamma makes a great spin on/off lid for the 3 and 5 gallon buckets. Watertight and critter tight, too.
They make a Vittle Vault with the same lids. I got 3 short ones (15 lb) for under the sleeper in the back.

Didn't have any noticeable change in road noise, however I used some sound deadening (second skin) and mass loaded vinyl.

When I get Off-road I pack extra things such as an axe, shovel, compass, paper map, fire starter, write in the rain note pad, water, one time when the wife and I were way Off-road (no cell reception) she mentioned the idea of a sat phone!

I put my home address as the local police station address in my GPS. If my truck gets stolen , I can call them to look for it .

I usually keep an emergency $20 hidden off in a side pocket of my wallet for emergencies but putting some in the Truck is a really good idea too.
