There are zero radios that can do ham and CB legally. The radio he linked to is a Yaesu FT-450, which is a multi band ham radio. It can receive CB out of the box but will not transmit on CB unless you modify the radio.

The FCC in September came out with directives about illegal radios and caused an uproar because they cited the amateur radio exemption, so it's on their radar for enforcement. Buy a CB for CB and a ham radio for ham radio, please.

Also important to note that the FT-450 is an HF + 6m radio so does not cover 2m (VHF) or 70cm (UHF) FM that most of us use on the trails. Radios that can receive CB and work on 2m FM ham are like the FT-818, FT-857, FT-991 and IC-7100.

RFI is horrible on 7-28mhz (hf ham bands) in my 2017 tacoma. Has anyone experienced/fixed this issue in a 3rd gen

In our local off road group, we've mostly all switched to GMRS (despite my efforts to go ham). Some are using the Midland GMRS radios, paired with permanent mounted antennas (the little mag mount that comes with them works, but isn't ideal); some are using the Baofeng handhelds like the UV5R (not technically legal as they're not type certified for GMRS, but many use them for this purpose); and some just use the little bubble pack radios.

Cost a lot more to get a GRMS license, but there's no test involved, and it also covers your immediate family; just go online to the FCC website and cough up the money.

We got fed up with CB, as we tend to get a lot of interference, and/or a lot of people that would never bother tuning or checking their installs.

While VHF/UHF Ham Radio should be (more or less), line-of-sight because of the VHF/UHF frequency range; in desert country, or hilly country it can go much further through repeater towers on hills, in fact there are around fifty Vhf and/or Uhf Repeater towers around this area alone. I have no blind spots.
CB is short ranged in hills; I go repeater to a tower on a hill,and it sends my signal on from there to a wider area. Same other way around, other ham operator to me via a repeater tower.
Between this area, and all the way to San Diego, I have 65 repeater towers programmed into my Kenwood VHF/UHF Radio, and it has a scanner function to see who is active.
CB? good luck in hills to go beyond a few miles. Have CB anyway in my rig for areas of no hams, or traveling cross country on roads.
