Why wouldn't it ? If it was offered as an option you could choose to get it or not . Hybrid would work well when you weren't towing or hauling . I don't think people understand that hybrid doesn't mean plug in electric

I use my poverty gen every day as a work truck and would line up to buy a poverty hybrid gen. And use it for work. My wife's Prius is awesome at moving people and is good for the environment, you know this place we live in. I want my girl engine to be a lesbian.

People are so desperate for gen 3 specs that they are just publishing what they pull out of their ass. Come on, Toyota!

I'm surprised a dealership would publish something with false mpg numbers. I wonder if that could bite them in the ass somehow? Put money a preorder for 27 mpg and throw a fit when it doesn't come?

Not really, Toyota is selling the Land Cruiser 70 in Japan for a year. It's been in continuous production in Japan since 1984, it just hasn't been sold in Japan since the late 90's.

Agreed and yes they advertise the 2wd mpg because that's the highest mpg configuration and a popular one. Why advertise less than what you have?

But the reason I'm a little shocked is because the only change being made to the 4cyl is the transmission and gearing. So if it does get 27 mpg (please so GM will shut up) that would mean the transmission is a big success. I really just want the Tacoma to have higher numbers than the GM twins to put them back in place.

Gm v6 is rated 26 mpg apparently. I see no reason the taco can't get that

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Problem here is no matter how great MPG numbers Toyota make on 2wd , GM diesel will blow them out of water..
    Can't beat Diesel.

I don't care if the diesel beats it. Because that's thousands of dollars premium, higher fuel cost, and higher cost of maintenance. Midsize diesel, woo!

All Toyota needs to do is beat GM on the gas models. If you want a diesel go buy one.

Not when you factor what it costs to buy and maintain these new tier 4 emissions diesels over the life of the vehicle. All of our newer diesels at work are maintenance hogs, and they go down often. Cummins, Cat, Kubota, Deere, all of them. The old stuff is where it's at IMO. All these new diesels with cats, egr, def, and not to mention the crappy low cetane diesel most stations carry now a days really aren't all they are cracked up to be IMO.

I'd be interested in a D4D Hilux/Tacoma however. But it won't happen in the states.

I have no clue on the 2017, as they are not out yet!

The first picture from link "http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/the-1986-toyota-truck-and-2016-toyota-tacoma-compared-s-1710386683" is a 1987(possibly a 1988) model becasue the grille. The grill with only 4 slots was offered first in 1987 and additionally I believe those specific graphics were not offered in 1986, but in 1987 also. I think it could also be a 1988. The second pictureis obviously not a 1986 and either an 84 or 85. From the outside if it has an EFI on the badging by the window it is an 85 if not 84. The obvious signs are the live axel, decals not used after 85 and the lower valance as it is shorter, where later years 86 and on they got longer. You can see diff in the valance from two pics.

Yup! Our Internationals suck. One truck only has 62,xxx miles on it and it has been in the shop almost as much as it's been on the road. One truck has already had to have a new engine in it. They don't go to the shop for a few days anymore, they go for a month at a time.

Regen should not be mandated on a emergency vehicle either.
