Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
3 seats up front and 2 in the back? The 4 cyl gets a bench up front and only offers jump seats in the rear?

GM isn't getting their claimed mpg numbers tho'. I usually take EPA ratings with a grain of salt.

I am guessing the V6 with 4WD will be able to get 24-25 HWY.

    Mileage-wise fa sha'.

The longevity of the GM is yet to be seen. I want see one with at least 100K miles on the clock, then evaluate the cost of ownership. Might be like a VW TDi, gets great mileage...but you prolly don't want to own it out of warranty.

Seems like you can only get auto if you want 2.7L and 2WD.

True, I had VW and number of problems that car had was just incredible. Probably one of the worst quality that I ever drove. However when it run it was most fun car I ever drove too. Small, light with Torque diesel and manual transmission. Despite all the Tow truck rides I still think I should have kept that even so it had watched on small fire at the end.
I Don't think GM will be that bad, there may be some initial problems but overall its going to run. Granted people will have to take good care of it.
On the end 4x4 Colorado with Diesel is probably most perfect combination for many. Torque with out spending tons on fuel.
So plenty of people will buy. I don't like GM, otherwise I would be probably first one to get one.

We had a Jetta...worse POS we ever owned....fun to drive when it was running. Vowed to never own a late model VW product ever again.

I don't think the GM be that bad though...believe it all depends on who you ask, there is a guy on another forum who works with Ford fleet trucks...he is kinda like the opposite of Sterdog....he hates Fords...and dogs on them relentlessly with all their problems.

Believe the diesel Colorado is worth a look, I still want to test drive one before I make up my mind on which truck to buy...not sure If I want to be the Beta tester though.

Ha ha I don't think anybody who owned VW after 2000 can claim any type of reliability :)
Now before that year thats a different story. those pre-2000 VW TDi are better than any Toyota product. After that year not so.

Possible, VW lost so much sales that they were thinking about pulling out of NA market altogether. I would imagine they will start improving at some point.

Well guys I HAD the 1986 truck. Bought it new back in '86 for $6500 bucks. Held onto that sweet truck until 1999 with well over 240,000 miles on it. Drove the friggin wheels off that truck. Got in it one morning to go somewhere and nothing but white steam bellowed from the exhaust and no power whatsoever. Had it towed to my local mechanic and found out the head had warped (aluminum head) and cooked the rest of the engine as a result. My mechanic friend offered me $600.00 on the spot for it and told me it would cost way more than that to fix the truck (i.e. new engine) which would've been way more than the truck was even worth. I took his offer without hesitation and never looked back (way too painful). Made me sick to my stomach.....so immediately started my search for another truck and ended up with a 2000 Chevy S-10 (My neighbor worked for Hendrick Chevrolet...so you know how that goes).

I wrote possible as in "I believe you" personally I stayed away VW since my last disaster on wheels. And no longer know anybody who owns one...

Do you have 100'000 miles on it yet?

Ours made it to 60'000....barely...and we ditched for a Civic...one of those fix it one last time and sell it before anything else goes wrong.

Seems like VW's are good until the warranty runs out. Don't think you can run them up to 250-300'000 miles like a Toyota with little to no fuss.
