Gearcruncher, thanks for the added information. Unless I'm missing something here, it doesn't suggest any major transplant roadblocks, but rather considerations for the swap?

I have only repaired two of these A760,s and that was way back in 2006 .
I have never done an actual swap .
This being said I agree with you . It should directly bolt into place . It,s possible you may need the Neutral safety switch and wiring going up to the ECU from the A760F . Having never done this swap , I am not positive about the gear selector handshake between the two different transmissions but I believe it will be worth researching

Unless both vehicles use the same ECU with a different calibration, you more then likely are heading into a rabbit hole.

Probably would be easier to convert your truck to a manual transmission computer and wait for a standalone controller to handle transmission tasks then make what you have work.

I also don't see why everyone is trying to retain the 4.0? It works but it isn't great. It would be easier to probably put a truck body on a truck that came with that transmission then it would be to put a 6 speed into your truck. Unless of course you can do all the fabrication and are a computer programmer.

What happened to the good old days when trannies didn’t have computers and all we had to do was adapt bell housings and mounts?

EXACTLY! It is nice that Toyota parts can be scavenged for other models. Here's hoping that the A760F is one of them.

I am doing the research along the way to putting the 1ur-fe motor into my Tacoma. So no I am not holding onto a 4.6
Also swapping bodies on has other issues that you are not accounting for.
Reality is if people really want to fix the truck is the motors have to double in power with 3.73 gearing.
Another option is running a 6L80e or Allison 6 speed to have a lower first gear and solid last gear.
I like the idea of being able to keep everything else and add this to the list of upgrades you CAN do to make your truck that much more epic.
