Ok I'm due to pick up my new 2014 dcsboff road package tomorrow or Friday and wanted some feedback about some after market features.

I know the mirror doesn't include temp/compass and that's fine. I would have like to have some sort of compass in the truck. Can anyone recommend a compass that might be able to be mounted on the dash that would look good and work? If I get an aftermarket mirror instead, are the wires up there to plug it in? How much do you think a dealer would charge to install aftermarket mirror?

What do you recommend as far as remote starters? Are those offered and installed at bestbuy ok or should I go to the dealer?

For a remote start I had a Compustar model 1WG5R-SS put in and love it! It has a one mile range also. They have several models to choose from but the ones that use the frequency for the mile range are the best in my opinion.

Also next week I'm having a Gentex mirror & temp sensor model # 50-GENK20A installed.

    Good luck

How much are they charging you to install the mirror? Where are you having it installed, the dealer?

Compustar and directed are good. Get "smart start" :)
I've had my directed one in my last truck and moved it to my Tacoma.

For your mirror. Buy a GENTEX mirror, they wire up easy and will replace your stock mirror. It'll give you compass, outside air temperature. I used one for years in my last truck. They make the mirrors for Toyota. You can also get one w homelink.

Is this new that compasses and temp gauges aren't stock???

Also, just a suggestion, but if you've got the time, do your mods yourself.. The savings you'll gain are astronomical and I promise most mods really aren't hard, just do the required homework first.
