Just like the title says I just noticed that the Compass/Temp display in the overhead console isn't working. Pressing the button to toggle it through Standard, Metric, and off doesn't change anything. Is this covered under platinum warranty? Or will I have to buy a new one? Thanks.

The truck is an 08 and has about 80K on it. It has the 100K platinum warranty that expires in August.

The platinum warranty (highest level) should cover it. I can't guarantee becsuse the list may not be specific to that level of part. But should be grouped under the various electronics catch-all. There's been an issue with some of the circuitry having weak solder connections, so if you've got warranty, make 'em pay for it. It's probably a $200.00 part!!
But as an example, in on my Sienna Platinum warranty, they replaced both a driver sun-visor ( bad vanity light socket) retail part cost $125.00 and a power window (drivers) switch retail part cost $350.00, under a 7/75000 plat warranty.

Its literally a 20 minute repair start to finish if you own a soldering iron. Search this forum of Toyota Nation if your warranty doesn't cover it.

My experience with the Platinum warranty is that you never know until you ask. My fuel door broke off and the platinum warranty said something like "fuel door spring" which turns out to be the black thing that holds the door shut but not the hinge.

I actually ended up taking the truck in. Just picked it up today.

They replaced the unit as well as my blower motor and blower relay all free of charge. Covered under the platinum warranty no questions asked. $540 repair for free.

Granted, I found the upper console screw sitting in the cup holder behind my shifter...I mean really - there's 1 screw and you forget to put it back? I just put it in myself when I got home. Really makes you wonder if you can trust the dealer at all.
