You can get the mirror that has either temp or compass or both. Bob's mirrors sells them.

Call or email Bob and ask him what your options are. He is a great guy who stands behind his products and knows what will work. I purchased one of his pre-owned auto-dim mirrors with compass and outside temp. It looked brand new, arrived in about three days and worked perfectly. If you have the cable and connector behind the overhead console, and you only want the compass, it is a 10 minute, "plug and play" install: connect the cable, loosen the screw on the current stock mirror, slide it up and off the windshield button, slide the new one on, tighten screw, drive in a couple of circles, both directions to calibrate: done. It will come with the instructions to change the magnetic declination to make it more accurate. Easy Peasy, nice and easy.

 

If you do have the pre- wiring but no display I'd be willing to trade my display for your blank panel or whatever is in that spot now. I just swapped in a mirror from Bob's mirrors so my display isn't plugged in anymore
