New here. Wondering what parts may be compatible / interchangeable between a 96 Tacoma and a 99? Could someone direct me to an information source? I have both years - just wanting to see if I can pull good parts off the 96 to put onto the 99. Seats perhaps?

Many of the hard parts are the same, some of the electronics are different.

    Seats should be the same.

There are a few gotchas with seats:

    1) A regular cab/full-bench truck will not have all the holes to mount a 60/40 split-bench or bucket seats. The holes that are there will line up, you'll just need to drill two additional holes and weld nuts behind them.
    2) Even if the seats are compatible, the seat belts might not be. Seat belts vary with cab style, seat type, and safety features (for example, seatbelt pretensioners were added around '99). The buckles changed along the way--mixing belts and receivers from different trucks might not work.

If you put the VIN for each truck into https://www.toyodiy.com/ you can compare part numbers for whatever you're trying to swap. If the part number is the same, you're good to go. Even if the part number is different, you might be able to swap, you'll just have to do some more research.
