    Good afternoon experts

    I've got a 2008 Double Cab Prerunner TRD OR SR5 with > 100k miles with stock Bilstein shocks.

    I'm thinking of trying to get 3rd gen stock or takeoff coilovers, but not seeing many options. This is my preferred route but might need to go another route.

    I'm seeing lots of take offs without the stock coils. If I buy a set without coils, I think I'm comfortable applying new coils if I could figure out ones that would be compatible in my like-stock setup.

    Not looking for much lift, it's fine if 0. Any suggestions for coil part numbers that will work with these Bilstein take offs? I'm guessing the coils that are currently on the truck won't work or are to old / worn to put on new shocks.Screenshot_20230504-164039.jpg

    I swapped 2018 trd OR shocks/springs under my 2012 sr5. The take-offs I swapped in came with springs, but I'm betting you could bring whatever front shocks you buy into your closest Toyota dealer and have the parts center look up the corresponding springs based off the shock part number or year/model of taco that they came off. Odds are the springs won't change much between years, but I don't know for sure. I do know stock springs are left/right specific though.

    I actually visited my local Toyota because the rear shocks I bought didn't come with the nuts that go on top. I walked into the parts center explained what I wanted to do and they said there likely wouldn't be any incompatibilities swapping suspension from 3rd to 2nd gen and gave me two free nuts. YMMV but the Toyota parts folks were nothing but helpful to me.

    Also, my swap did result in a 1-2in lift. A little more in the rear than the front.

    Do you have 5 lugs or 6? if 6, 3rd Gen Off Road front springs will lift the front of your truck about 1 1/2 or so. any other models other than Off Road will not lift it, but will also fit! they are not side specific, yes there are colored dots, but the spring part numbers are exactly the same if you go buy new ones, so.....they are however needing to be properly indexed in the perch, so look that up if you are assembling them yourself! You can find complete take offs already assembled, you just plug and play.....

    I read somewhere on here that the stock spring rates are slightly higher on the driver's side to compensate for the weight of the driver, battery, gas tank etc to prevent the 'taco lean' that shows up with after market coil springs.

    Was someone pulling my leg? I wouldn't be surprised, I'm a gullible mf haha. I ended up having to do research to figure out which side the colored dots corresponded to.

    Nope, same part numbers for both sides. that is why people put in the spacer on the left side to "correct" the taco lean....
