I don't believe I'd ever trust it again. With it being so new, I'd push for a new one if at all possible. Even if they said they "found" the problem, I still wouldn't trust having "it" replaced/fixed. That'd be a real bad feeling to loose your brakes, especially at high speeds, in the mountains, or any where obviously..

I'll never forget a few years back hearing a 911 call from an off duty CHP officers wife, while he was driving with their family in the car.. I believe it was a Lexus can't remember, but he lost the brakes.. You could hear the terror in her voice. They were going down the highway when it happened, there was really nothing he could do, he got off an exit at some point.. People said flames were shooting out from the wheels... It was terrible, you could hear it all as it happened. If I'm not mistaken her last words were oh no oh no, and you knew it was bad, just by the way she said it and the tone of her voice. They all died.

So, if there's one thing I wouldn't chance, it'd be the brakes. I'd hate for any one to have to go thru something like that. Or endanger others.

Years ago I had a Ranger that leaked into the passenger footwell whenever it rained from the day I got it. They worked on it, remounted the windshield, made sure there weren't any blocked drains and so on. The dealer finally agreed to replace it with a new one. We made a deal that I'd pay some cents per mile until the ordered truck came in. I want to say it was .10 a mile, but whatever it was it seemed perfectly reasonable to me since I had driven it almost 1000 miles before the new one came in. That's the deal I'd look for with your truck.

That wasn't the brakes, that was the start of the unattended acceration fiasco Toyota went through. The Lexus supposedly started accelerating hard and the driver who was the CHP could not stop the car, the breaks were burning up because of the heavy application. That car had the push start and was a rental and the driver couldn't figure out how to kill the engine.

That started the congressional hearings with congress and Toyota on the acceleration fiasco they went through. It was supposedly happening on Priuses, but ECU data showed that the drivers were also pushing on the accelerators, and some of those drivers were behind payments. Anyhow Toyota was later exonerated showing no evidence of malfunction. But many say there were issues with the ECU software.

OK, it's been a few years, I didn't remember all the details.. Either way, he didn't get it stopped. More than anything, the brake thing reminded me of that. But thanks for clearing it up.

IMO, if they identified the root cause, and fix it. I'd be good with that.

You can't really live your life with, "what ifs?"

I mean, say you get a new truck, what if the person driving behind you has faulty brakes? What if the person driving in front of you has faulty brakes? Even if you get a new truck, what if the new truck had problems?

This sounds similar to what my 2014's ABS occasionally does in the snow at very low speeds. The pedal becomes dead and the truck just coasts. Maybe you had a little snow on the tires which caused the ABS to activate. It also occasionally happens if I hit a bump while braking for a stop sign. If I let off the brake for a second and repress it it is fine. Check out the huge "ABS on this truck is dangerous thread". At least you have a hand emergency brake, the foot activated one on the 2nd gen is pretty useless in an emergency.

I realize you can't live your life what iffing. And I don't believe what I was saying had anything to do with what ifs, like you're mentioning..
It would just give me a bad taste about that truck. It'd be one thing if you didn't have any break fluid vs something they haven't already easily found (for instance some electrical/computer bs)... I don't know maybe it will be something small and it won't be too big a deal..
Whatever. Hope it gets taken care of.

Like I said before, I think this is a strong possibility, that the problem was caused by wet/icy tires on the garage surface.
OP, what is the finish on your garage floor?

Pedal should still have pressure and you would hear the ABS activating. Going that slow it would only kick on for a half a second or so

Dry concrete and the garage is heated. With how slow I was going I don't think I would have had enough momentum to get the tires to slide. When pulling into the garage I ride the brake as idle is to fast. Little off, little on. I am never 100% on or off the brake until I am in position.

My Tahoe would do the same. Problem is I didn't have time to pump the brake so I do not know if this was the same situation or not...

I'd still take it to a controlled environment and work the brakes around to see if you can repeat it. Run different scenarios, short distance, at speed, hard braking ect. Maybe you can duplicate it and see what triggers it.

If not, then it might help you regain some confidence in your truck.

Out today that Ford is investigating potential brake failure issues on 420,000 F150's for model years 2013 and 2014. Brake pedal reported going to the floor. Speculating on fluid leaking from the master cylinder to the booster. Boom.

Just my opinion, people saying it was the abs system didn't read the first post, OP says it went all the way to the floor. ABS doesn't do that, you still have pedal feel and can feel the vibrations of the ABS system working. I would not drive it until toyota figured it out, if it happened once it can happen again. What if it happens at a light with people walking in front of you? Or when you're trying to stop in an emergency? You or somebody else could easily die...

That is the exact reason I did not take the truck back yesterday. I asked the Tech and General Manger one simple question. Would you trust this truck with your child's life after this failure??? They both agreed and said no.

That's good, at least they're saying the right things. I also disagree with anybody saying you hit the accel by accident, you would have sent it through the wall.

Finished but it is far from super smooth or polished. It scraped up my knees pretty good while working on the Harley. Painting the floor is on the agenda this summer.
