Hello men, I have a 2010. Can someone elaborate where they get/find the 5v power for the right side? Did you take a meter and test a bunch of pigtails until you found it? Or is it easier.. Thanks

For those with an 2006 prerunner, the wire locations are the same as one would think but there's a couple extra in the passenger side plug. I don't know if it has to do with trim level or what but I was a bit confused when mine looked different with the same year as OP

Just did this today, worked great! Took a bit to find the correct connector on passenger side but easily executed. Good writeup

Does anyone have the link to the guide to wire in a SPDT switch which allows you to enable/disable TPMS? I did this back when I got my truck as I have two sets of wheels, and one set didn't have sensors. Can't seem to find it anywhere...

I found this picture, but no guide or thread. This looks similar to what I did, if I remember correctly.

    TPWSBypassv2.jpg

I may put it back to normal as I'd like to use that spot in the dash for something other than this switch.

    ahhhh....toolbox in bed...
Reviving this thread to say thank you to all. Recently slapped some 2020 Taco wheels on my 2009. Installer said sensors weren't directly compatible, but he said he could sell me four sensors for $280 each. That's more than I paid for the wheels ! Came on here and found what I needed. My 09 doesn't have the blue box under the AC controls. I cut the blue wire in the glove box harness and grounded it. No luck. Took +12v from the yellow wire nearby and applied to the blue wire and voila ! Light is out ! I check the pressure in my tires, my wife's, and daughters regularly. I'm old school. Never needed the damn sensors in any vehicle since I started driving and I don't need them now. Wish it was a selectable option when buying a car. I'd even sign a waiver if I could buy one without this crap.

How have you checked the tires while driving?

You can buy 4 new sensors for $60. They typically last about 10 years. It will cost you less than the cost of one meal a year at McDonalds to keep working sensors in your truck. Any tire store will install and program them at no cost when mounting tires anyway. About $10/tire if you're not buying new tires. I replaced them in my 07 proactively before they died. Did the same to my 14 F150, an 09 Honda and a 2010 Wrangler.

    Amazon.com: MORESENSOR Signature Series 315MHz TPMS Tire Pressure Sensor 4-Pack | Preprogrammed for Select 270+ Japanese Brand Models | Replacement for 42607-33011 | Snap-in | NX-S008-SN-4 : Automotive

The sensors aren't meant to replace your air gauge. They are meant to give you a warning if you have a sudden tire deflation while driving. Twice since owning vehicles with TPMS sensors the warning light came on while driving 70-75 mph on an interstate. Both times I ran over unseen debris that punctured a sizeable hole in the tires. Neither tire could be saved. But I was able to get off the road and stopped before they went completely flat. A tire coming apart at 75 mph isn't something I want to try.

It's a lot cheaper and easier to just keep working sensors in your truck. And it might save your live. Just do it.

For reference for anyone still looking to do this, OP's method of grounding the blue wire only works for 05-06. For 07-15 (I did it on a 2013 TRD Sport) you need to give the blue IJ1 wire power, not ground. Many people jumped the blue wire IJ1 connector wire with the +12V yellow wire from another connector, and while that does seem to work, another thread with more wiring info says that under normal operation it is looking for only +5V, which triggers it to shut off the light. In light of not providing it with a full 12 volts that it isn't designed for, I used the blue wire below the big yellow wire some people used. As with anything I would check with a multimeter that the wire you tap into is indeed a +5V with the key on before you jump it to the blue wire from the IJ1 connector on the far right. These wires are also much more accessible than the method of doing it behind the radio and everything, and very easily reversible by just reaching down and unplugging the jumper. Picture below is from JunkBox's post, I only labeled it after doing it myself successfully.

Just did it the way you wired it (Peter603taco) and it works. I have a 2010, used the same t connectors and male disconnects to get the 5v power. Nice job explaining brother!

I pulled out the instrument cluster, and filled the TPMS warning light hole with black RTV, then put it back together. Voom! No TPMS light! Best part is, when pulling apart the dash, I found a wad of cash jammed up in there. Eight bucks!

This a long thread so my question may have been answered above.

2006, access cab. Where is the tpms control unit. I purchased pn 89769-35020 and intended to replace it. I will try to attach a photo. My wiring diagram shows it behind the clove compartment but it's not there.

Head liner maybe? Behind the radio maybe?

Please include a photo of the location if you can. Thanks 17134598069248257452667027807715.jpg

I've come to like getting a chuckle when the mothership blinks in search of it's satellites......getting new ones whenever next set of tires becomes necessary............but I do like the blue wire mod and may do it anyway then just unplug it whenever it is tire time...............

Still not found my 2006 access cab TPMS module. I have no interest in disabling it, I just want to find it.

    Thanks
