I bought a truck last friday & asked the service guy about the spring tsb. He said it only takes a couple hours. But he said the ride after it is done is horrible.

I wanted to hear it from you guys that have had it done. Is there much difference? Is he just saying that so I don't have it done.

I don't get this , is he saying every single Tacoma in Canada has a horrible ride ?

What a bunch of bullshit .

Crock of shit, just tell him nicely, "I don't mind the prospects of such a bad ride, because this TSB is for a 'Harsh Ride' so it shouldn't get worse and our neighbors in Canada all have this stock! I'll take my chances, but thanks so much for your input!"

My opinion is that the ride actually feels better, more responsive and stiff than before.

    I'm in Georgia not Canada.

I was just wondering if the tsb changes the ride much? Does it make it really rough?

No it doesn't make it ride rough. Ironically, "Harsh Ride" is how the TSB is defined by... TOYOTA!

"Some customers of Tacoma 4x4 or PreRunner vehicles with Access or Double cabs may experience
a harsh ride from the rear suspension while carrying heavy cargo in the bed and driving over bumps
or uneven road surfaces. Updated rear spring assemblies and front and rear shocks are available to
    improve this condition.

    NOTE
Customers should be advised that vehicle ride characteristics in an unloaded condition may
exhibit an increase in rear suspension firmness."

Basically, IMHO it doesn't make it ride rough. I did come from an '11 DCLB Sport so the changes made to mine are less significant than coming from an SR5 or the like.

I know that , my point was that the Canadian trucks don't ride like shit , it's BS .

Ok to restate what I posted before:

From 2005-2008 Non TRD packaged Tacomas get leaf packs and shocks bump stops and hardware and alignment

From 2005-2008 TRD Tacoma get leaf packs and hardware and alignment

From 2009-2011 All Tacomas get leaf packs and hardware and alignment

The shocks for the newer non TRD tacomas already have the updated shocks and bump stops on them.

Only is covered for 3yrs/36,000 from when it was new. If not covered for free the dealer will make you pay. Some dealers might cut you a break others won't. If you really want it done ask to pay either all parts and no labor, or all labor no parts.

Filling up your tires is not going to help with heavy loads. You can only inflate so much. All you need is 400 lbs and you will bottom out without the tsb done.

    A I R B A G S not tires.......

I have already loaded more than 400lbs of walkway block in the truck and did not bottom out. I thought I would have to add those Firestone Airbags but so far no need for them. I think I would be okay up to 600LBs and I seriously cannot see ever putting anything as heavy as that in the short bed. I would never put my bike or lawn tractor in it have a trailer for that kind of stuff and I don;t trust the tailgate.

Mine were done today not one bit of difference in the ride even on rough roads. The 11's do not get new shocks they are ready have the proper version. The only thing they told me was it will sit higher in the rear maybe it does sure can't tell from where I sit but I'm hoping I'll be able to load it to the rails with fire wood.

I have a 2011 dc but my shocks are all black? Are they not bilsteins?? Are all the shocks on the 2008 and up the blue and yellow in color? I know my brothers are on his 2009 sport but are they that color on all the 2008 and up?

That information is straight from the TSB found here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/at...68-2011-tacoma-tsb-print-out-t-sb-0359-10.pdf

In other words, 2009-2011 Tacomas, whether TRD or Non-TRD will not get new shocks [at least not solely because of this TSB].

I can't see why yours might be colored differently from mine, but I guess that's possible . Someone else and/or your dealer would probably be a better bet as I'm unsure of the answer.

I just got mine done today at Sandy Springs Toyota. The ride is noticeably firmer, but it's not a bad ride at all. Just feels solid. The truck also seems to handle better in turns now, with less body roll. It raised the rear of my truck ~1.5", which I'm guessing will settle down to an inch or so after I haul a few loads.

I'd definitely recommend it if you do any hauling or towing. If you don't, it's just a ride preference.
