It has been so long since I have received a compliment on a vehicle, I had all but forgotten what it was like. It feels so good! Got my first genuine compliment today on the new Tacoma. Of course family and friends always dish them out, but the nice ones are completely random and unexpected. Today, I was coming out of the barber shop and noticed a guy doing a double-take at my truck. As I walked closer he said "Is that your truck?" I said "Yep". He said "Is it lifted?" I said "no, it's not lifted, it is four-wheel drive, but no new springs or leveling has been done...only those tires." "It looks sharp", he said. I know this may come off as another "who cares" kind of thread, but with all of the discussions about the new looks, good/bad, it seems to me that the looks may be catching on.

Note: My previous 15 years worth of vehicles were not compliment-worthy: 2000 standard-cab F-150 Work Series manual trans., 2001 Honda Accord, 2002 Honda Accord, 2006 Nissan Titan SE crew cab, 2014 Honda Civic Coupe. 'LOLs' are welcome!

I have had 6 compliments on my Tacoma. "0" on the 2015 Colorado I traded in. I had it for 6 months.

2 compliments came from 2nd gen owners at the gas station. They both said the same thing that I would not have a bit of trouble with it. Like my dealer said, "The Tacoma's nickname is the Forever Truck."

    Cool cool on the compliments.

The last time anyone, outside of family and friends, I remember any comments about my ride I was driving a shinny new Acura somewhere in the rust belt. Couple cats in a beat up rust bucket GM 4x4 decided to blame me for Americas problems...I got called names while setting at a stop light I hadn't heard since I was in grade school... I guess they were having a bad day.

I had mine at a friends house last week. He has a '15. We were outside comparing differences when his mailman showed up. The mailman all but asked if he could drive it (wait he did ask), was there asking questions for about 45 minutes. I think he liked it.

I've gotten tons of compliments. The bad side is that I dont think anyone would come up to me and say "your new truck is ugly"! I think in general most are digging the Gen 3. It turns heads too!

Sam, You ought to see the GM personnel crane there ole necks when I drive past on State St. which is Main St. as you can see they are real close when I drive by. I told them I was going to trade the colly in last time I drove out the service door in front of the red Chevy truck. They never said anything.

I can attest to the closeness of the GM personnel to the road in Lawrenceville. I am from Sumner.

I wouldn't tell everyone that. :) I grew up in a village a little smaller, West Liberty.

Had some family of family from West Liberty. The world is so small. I live in St. Louis and have been working in Tacoma, WA. Met a gal out there who's sister lives a few blocks from me and her kids go to school with mine.

    * Sorry about the thread-jacking OP. Im out.

That's always nice when that happens. About a month after I bought my 15 someone came up me in a parking lot and complimented my truck saying the Tacoma was the best truck he ever had and was "forced" to move to a tundra when his family grew but sold his taco with almost 250k miles on it.

I'm a SUCKER for the high mileage stories. The most I've ever achieved personally is 180k in a 01 Accord. Albeit, the transmission was beginning to slip.

Ya me personally I've never gotten that high. Before buying the Tacoma I had A.D.D with vehicles but now I can't imagine parting with it unless it was another Tacoma

Wish I still had the pictures of my friends Camry. Think it was a 98 or somewhere around very VERY clean but he just hit 320k not too long ago

I have only had family members tell me it looks nice and say they had 200-300k mile Toyotas.

My cousin is into trucks and the whole life style of big, lifted, broed out trucks, but when he climbed into the driver seats and ran his hands along all the OR 4x4 buttons and I told him what they were, he was like ooooooh ahhhhhhh. "I don't have a locker." "What's MTS?" "Whats the dial for?" "An AC plug in the bed?" "The transfer box is on a dial?" He knows what I paid for it, and he orginally thought it was a joke of a truck for that kind of money, but he understood after he saw it and realized all the features and he said he liked it.

He also said it doesn't look as long and short as in the pictures I sent him.

Isn't this so true? I've yet to be able to capture an angle, in any photo, that does the trick justice. Doesn't matter what sunset, what backdrop, etc. The Tacoma in photos is just NOT as good as a Tacoma in person. This is just my opinion, of course.

    You're counting. I stopped counting.

My dealer's Sales Manager wants to buy my truck back... for himself. Not happening, as in 'Forever Truck'.

Yup, 2nd or 3rd Gen, they are nice trucks.
