I guarantee that the Ford get's better mileage than my pig! I'm averaging 15.5 mpg right now since I mostly do city driving.

I test drove a Duramax colorado two or three weeks ago now... the tailgate was much lighter than my 3rd gen

    Fake!

they are using the same dents in both scenarios, at least partially?!

The long crack seems to be the same as well 1:16 in the english version and 1:42 in the spanish version.

Yup identical. All surrounding marks like a fingerprint, they all match too.

As a former landscaper, and someone who sold these same supplies and loaded them in hundreds of trucks... this is not a completely "real world test"

I would hand load supplies such as this, you drop paving stones or retaining wall bricks, etc and they crack, bust edges and crumble. Unless you just bulldozed the wall and everything's trash, I'd never see this done on a regular basis.

It does suck to see the Ford bed crack and split like that though... I doubt our composite beds would hold up to this test, and if it did, our leaf springs would be frowning.... lol

I can say with all confidence that my 2006 Ford ranger sport 4x4 5 speed held 1000 pounds of leveling sand and drove down the interstate with ease, loaded by a skid steer, it sagged a bit, but never frowned.

I miss my 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. That thing was bulletproof and the 4.0L had plenty of giddyup!

Yea, after my recent issues with Toyota, I sometimes wonder if I made the right choice... the 4 doors and interior are way nicer, my Ranger was a sport package, but had vinyl floors and manual everything, locks, mirrors, windows, trans.

But it was Sonic Blue, and worked and drove like a beast, and did well off road. That 4.0 was incredible

I had the all rubber/vinyl lined floors. Wondered if that came stock or not. I bought the truck used. The XLT had power windows and door locks. I needed a 4 door so I could ditch my Beamer. Had 160k miles on mine and it ran like a top

I had a 1995 F150 and I swear that tailgate weighed as much as the entire bed of my Tacoma.

How many lbs did they put in your bed and how far of a drive did you have?

Not sure what the point of this is.... Yes, steel is stronger than aluminum when it comes to impact toughness. Both of those materials will out-perform composites like the one used on a Tacoma. SCIENCE.

If I want to haul bricks like that I'd buy a dump truck, not a 50,000 USD + commuter truck.

    Facepalm.

Twas all approximate, of course, but the hauling was:

~1300 pounds of gravel (~7 miles)
~1200 pounds of sand (~7 miles)
~1200 pounds of concrete pavers (~3 miles)
~1600 pounds of pavers, sod, gravel, and cement mix (~3 miles)

Had zero issues. A few months ago I did around ~1600 pounds of tile ~15 miles for a remodel my pops was doing at his place. A lot of uphill driving on that one. Steering was a bit loose and had a good squat, but it was fine.

Composites won't dent like steel or aluminum, but they may crack. However I've never heard of that being a problem. I could be wrong.

They couldn't afford multiple trucks and had to use one for both commercials.

Glad to know! We just had a neighbor do a stone run for us because I don't have my truck yet. He brought over a ton at s time but it was a larger Ford. Tacoma wouldn't be able to do that, that's really be pushing the limits
