I was pretty disappointed about the Line-X, too. In my mind, the composite bed is a cop-out. It's just a way to save money. I hate the bed. I've been nervous to attach anything of importance to it out of fear it'll pull out. Aluminum or steel, I don't care what it's made of, as long as it's metal.

Tonneau is a good plan. Or Bed Rug. Anything to keep it out of mind. I barely even notice mine now. :)

I didn't have Line X installed. Just a DeeZee rubber mat and bedrug for the tailgate. The only benefit I see to using Line X is having it done just before one sells or trades so they cannot see how scratched up the bed is. LOL

This is not good! Major rust potential here. You're going to need to do a 17 part sand, prime, paint, powdercoat and fluid film in hopes this rust bucket will make it through winter.......

JK, looks good OP, i don't actually know a good way to take care of this

I’d probably just put some UV protectant on it and call it a day if you leave the truck outside all the time. Some options are discussed here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/uv-protectant-for-composite-bed.390958/
My biggest concern would be making sure that whatever you use doesn’t get tacky in the sun and then transfer black smudges to your gear or materials in the back.

It looks like you actually use your truck to do cool shit and get the hell "off road". Whatever you put on there is gonna come off one way or another between mother nature and hauling shit while you're making memories. Roll with it man. Ain't gonna rust. I think it looks cool.
Worry about how well you will resist the urge to mod the shit out of that baby. Glad to see someone really using their truck.
Did you do Imogene and Black Bear when you were in Telluride? That's God's Country. Cuz you're praying you don't fuck up the whole time and... well, you know the rest. :D:thumbsup:

Yea, you're probably right. I've got a diamondback cover coming a week from today so everything should be pretty protected after that bad boy gets installed.

And you bet your sweet ass I did Black Bear and Imogene. It was incredible! I don't think I've ever been so puckered up as I was coming down Black Bear. My truck is a stock TRD Off Road and there were a few hairy ledges to come down. Made it down in one piece but that skid plate sure did come in handy. Imogene was quite a bit more tame but probably my favorite of the two trails. Can't wait to get back out there.

Wipe it down with Aerospace 303, it will blend somewhat.

I'll give it a try thanks. Luckily it will be out of the sun for good when my cover gets in but I may go ahead and try this anyways.

Nothing sticks to these beds, they are pretty durable however. I have made some pretty good scuffs somewhat go away on my old 2nd gen.

Bed stiffeners are a drop in the bucket and 2nd gens are doing just fine without tailgate dampeners.

Wash it and put some 303 on it. Good enough.

Dude. You're killing me. Pic by pic...
I was shitting my pants down Black Bear too. Loved the shorter wheelbase on the access cab on my 2003. I took my bro-in-law from New Orleans up there and blew his fucking mind. He says " how u know where to go brah?" I say " see the line. Wanna drive?" He says "fuck no brah. you good".

Before you do anything too crazy, I'd just try some automotive plastic restorer/protectant.

Haha bet he was sweatin bullets on that one. Little bit different terrain than down in New Orleans. It's like you feel this sense of accomplishment when you make it down past that waterfall spot. Probably won't do it again until I get some bigger tires and a lift. Those hairpin turns though... Those are never going to get any easier!
