Just bought 2022. Want to bolt small crane to lift mobility scooter to the composite bed. Is it strong enough if I put a plate under it?

If your plate uses the existing mounting holes where the bed fits the frame I’d think it should be good. You will need longer bolts, and use the same torque setting as the originals. If the plate is off to one side, use the bolt holes on that side and maybe put some right angle supports that mount to the side rails and also try to use the tie down points.

If you look closely to the bed bolts, they don't actually clamp the bed plastic at all. There are metal sleeves that are part of the bed the bolts compress to the frame. The bed itself is about as strong as a heavy plastic container.

Have a hitch, and a lift, but they won't let the tailgate open. Really thinking about a set of ramps.

[IMG] there's a pic somewhere with like a rocket launcher on the bed. So I think it will be fine

I’m sure a rocket launcher would be bolted to the frame and not the bed.

I’d ask Toyota about this you can’t be the first person to want to do something like this.

I bolt my rocket launcher directly to the frame...doesn't void the warranty!!
