Well, the title says it all. Is there a comprehensive parts list for everything that may need to be replaced when replacing a head gasket on a 2010 2TR-FE? I have removed the timing cover, so timing chain, water pump, front main oil seal, all seem obvious, but there are a lot of little gaskets and o-rings that I’m seeing, and I’m wondering if all of these come with a timing chain kit, water pump kit, head gasket kit etc. Is there something I should pay close attention to on the fuel injectors? Anyone who has done it once or twice is bound to have some good knowledge that I don’t have.

    Thanks in advance.

I wonder what manuals dealer techs use. Supposedly the kit for Tacoma's is 4 books for $330 total.
    Which I really don't get.
In this modern age, most other auto companies have electronic repair manuals, where the mechanic looks it up on a computer.
Would be cool if it's possible to obtain that

Not sure if the head needs to be sent to a machine shop to be worked on,
or if it can simply be re-used right then and there, if it checks out as looking straight with a flat ruler/metal straight-edge placed onto it, to the naked eye. But with a new gasket.

IDK if machining is only something that's done if it's warped from severe overheating from running without coolant for an extended period of time, causing the head to not fully seal even with a new gasket, if it's not machined flat.
besides the other stuff machine shops do, like hot tank clean the head, put new valve stem seals, etc.

I've used workshop manuals dot com on other cars before but don't know if they have the Tacoma

dealer parts dept guys usually know from helping the tech get parts to do the job more than once in their career,
but they're probably more oriented to help the tech get parts, rather than an outside customer
because the tech is also making labor hours for the dealership
ie parts dept employee having access to diagrams to see potentially needed parts to order ahead of time,
rather than seeing by tearing apart the engine, only to have the car taken apart and not running for too long
