The red stick/green sticker registration only counts in populated areas like the bay area. You go up to the mountains and you can ride red sticker all year long.

For you guys running 93, what's the cost difference between that and low octane? Here in CA it can be pretty dramatic cost on a complete fill up.

As of today, I can get regular for $3.05 and premium (90) for $3.25. For 20 gallons, it’s $61.80 vs $65.00. There are places were premium is much higher but this is at my regular station.

If regular is $0.20 a gallon cheaper, it costs me roughly $300 a year (or $25 a month) at my average 27500 miles. If it’s $0.40 cheaper, it would cost me $600 a year and I’d probably run regular...

Around here premium is typically .60 per gallon more. Granted it is 93.

Gas prices are higher here mostly because of the taxes. Sometimes I'll see a low price on regular, then a big jump to mid grade and premium is 10 cents above that. In a sense, the more expensive gas is, the cheaper it is to run mid or premium because it's a smaller percentage of the total cost.

Try paying Canadian prices for regular. Typically in BC, regular goes for $1.30/litre. Times that by 4 for US gallon or 4.546 for imperial and were about $6/gallon. Alberta, or I should specify, Calgary is easily $.30/Litre cheaper than BC.
Count your lucky octane stars my southern friends.

I filled backup on Mobil 1 93 and noticed engine note is quieter and back to a little smother in less than 15 minutes driving The engine ecu and sensor programming is pretty responsive from my observations.

I paid $3.20 gallon in southeast Massachusetts. I also got 4 bucks off for using my exxon rewards points.

Tell me about it...14mpgs and a supercharger makes my wallet an unhappy camper in CA, needing to run 91 octane and all. Especially with how gas prices have skyrocketed recently.

Try driving my Camaro which gets only 5mpg , used to daily drive it up until 7years ago . I filled the tank daily and it hurt the wallet

Anecdotal experience like everyone else but when I run premium, my mpgs are definitely higher. I've recorded 21.5 mpgs on the freeway with all my mods. It feels like it drives a little better too. Now, it's definitely not cost effective though. Overall, it's cheaper to run regular.
