What about for those who don't have a button... Like all of us with a manual? Is it even legal to have remote start in a manual?

I always park in neutral with ebrake on. Probably not the best. Just habit. There must be a way to bypass the clutch safety switch... After all there is a button on my dash that allows me to bypass the clutch.

I'm sure it's been discussed before elsewhere.

    Where there's a will, there're relatives.

    I mean, there's a way.

Unfortunately it's not something I've researched so I don't know. May be worth digging around on the12volt.com and both directechs.com and fortin.com.

That sucks, the starter motor has to work again after you get in the truck.

It is what it is. Not many folks ever worry about their starters when they move their truck twice to wash it, or to go a block to the next store, or the five stops running errands on their way home. Yes it's additional wear, as are many of the things we enjoy for convenience.

Given the choice of staying running, sure I'd go for that. But it's not an option. So I'll take hundreds of instances of a warm truck and a happy wife against a *chance* of an early starter replacement.

I had a remote start on my 97 Saturn SC2 manual. The way I "bypassed" that was, on the floor under the clutch there was literally a button. It triggered when the clutch was pushed all the way to the floor when the pedal pushed it in. I snipped the wire on that and tied them together. The car would lunge if tried to start it in gear, but I was 18 and didn't care at the time lol. That's where my habit of parking in neutral with the E brake locked first began.
