Hello Taco thinkers, I'm about to install Compustar 2 way remote starter DC3 with T7 harness and FT ELOCK relay. While a lot of people will opt for Best Buy, local shops etc, I think I can tackle it myself as I've done few hardwired and plug and play installs on Toyota/Lexus and Honda vehicles (due to sloppy and trust issues with installers:annoyed:). Can anyone share technical knowledge for the telematics connection with the relay if its absolutely needed? TIA

Is there a pdf of the complete install manual you could link? You only included one of 17 pages! The blurriness of that screen shot is hard to look at.

The system seems to be taking over control of the DCM by denying it power, just as removing the fuse would do. Why? Can't say as I do not have any additional information.

The pdf did not add much, but it does call out on page 3 the possibility of problems with the DCM.

I answered your inquiry because I am familiar with the DCM, not your install.

From the information available the system is indeed removing power from the DCM. How much of the time and why is still unanswered. But when power is removed from the DCM the microphone for the SOS button as well as the microphone for the Bluetooth radio are disabled, as well as remote start by the FOB and remote start by the Toyota App. Plus, all communications to Toyota. There may be other conditions disabled that I do not remember.

Just why do you seem to be hesitant to do the DCM connection and relay should be the question. You might not have to get to the DCM specifically (admittedly a bit more work, but not insurmountable), but to Connector IS3 behind the passenger side kick panel to do the work - see the DCM schematic included. The other attached file gives the location of IS3.

Another option is to go ahead with your installation without the DCM work and just remove the DCM fuse as stated on page 3 and see what happens.

Thanks for the info, I'll go ahead and try it with the relay, the reason for wanting to skip it I just feel a bit overwhelmed with it as I've never done an install with relay, on the other hand I'm an ex network installer and up for a challenge. Still waiting on few parts and more suitable weather as the foreseeable is freezing brrr

    You're welcome.

While you're waiting for parts this will tell more than you ever wanted to know about relays:
    Relay - Wikipedia
    Even has some automotive nomenclature.
