    Hello all…

I have my conceal license and am finally getting serious about purchasing, but having trouble with the decision.

A firearm would be primarily for home defense but I would conceal from time to time depending on the environment.

    I’m between:
    Springfield Hellcat
    M&P Shield
    Sig P365
    Glock 43 (a distant fourth)

A laser dot isn’t of much importance to me but maybe I’m missing something.

Top two choices are the Hellcat and the Sig. Love the Hellcat sights for whatever that’s worth. Probably not using the sights much if someone were coming through the door.

    Thoughts?

That’s how I felt handling all but the Glock 43 in store.

How’s the Hellcat trigger pull and recoil?

I have a Shield Plus, I like it. 13+1 in 9mm, not like the previous generations of Shields.
The other guns you mention are nice. I’ve never liked Glocks, they don’t feel right. And I can’t bring myself to buy a Croatian made Springfield, regardless of how good they are.
Your best bet is to find a range that rents or a buddy that owns them so you can try each one before you buy.

I've carried the MP Shield in 9mm now for about 8 years. Probably ran 500-600 rounds through it.
Of about 10 different brands of ammo. Brass and Aluminum case. Ball and hollow point. Never a single issue.

This is a bit disappointing about the Croatian manufacture.

The Glock 43 is not in the same boat as the p365 and hellcat. The 43 is all around bigger while holding 4 less rounds. laser dots are for LARPers, they add weight and in a real defensive shooting scenario you are pointing and clicking (usually point shooting cause it's so fast). All Springfield does is import Croatian guns made by HS Produkt. Having owned a 43 as well as a 42, my money is on the p365. I pocket carry it everywhere and have since sold the 43.

    Sig 365.

I still have a G43, but since buying the Sig it never gets used. With 10 round mags it is very concealable. With the available 12 round mags it is a lot easier to shoot accurately. They offer the Sig with, or without a 1911 style safety. My wife and I both have the version with the safety.

I have no problem carrying a striker fired gun such as a Glock with no safety as long as it is carried in a proper holster. But for nightstand or glovebox duty having the safety is a huge plus for me.

Thanks — something else I noticed is the slide lock lever on the Hellcat is too far forward for my liking. Makes reaching it in a natural grip position awkward. The P365 has it in the right place. A small thing, but I found it annoying.

+ German/USA made firearm vs a Croatian firearm that gets imported, a Springfield logo stamped on it, and then marked up. The original XD series lines are all just rebranded HS2000's...

I personally prefer the M&P or the P365.

Somehow I let the sales guy talk me into a SD9VE. I regretted that one almost immediately. :anonymous::anonymous:

P365XL and never once regretted it. I shoot it as well as I shoot a full size pistol, sights are fantastic, option for a red dot if you choose, manual safety if you choose (I have young kids and liked the option of a manual safety). Just a lot of options around the platform. Did not like the hellcat but that's all personal preference.

I'd suggest adding a 43x and a 365XL to your list to check out

The grips on both are substantially different than the standard 43 or 365 and worth trying

My only dislike on the P365xl is the increased barrel length for conceal carry. Not that it’s a lot.

The 365X will have an XL frame and standard slide

You can also easily swap the frame on a 365 also

So it’s all around larger than the basic P365 right?
