A little change in subject here....

Obviously, we all live & work in different areas of the country. Some of us are more exposed to threats more than others.

So, in your daily life/routine..... What part of your life/routine are you in highest alert / awareness? What part are you more susceptible to being attacked or exposed to any threats?

What do you worry about the most?

well in general in public is more a threat...ive never been threatened but i witnessed the murder of a 13 year old girl :( this is why i bought a gun in the first place...also i am normally armed inside the house because as everyone know 100% of home invasions happen in the home

So, I've read a couple books already. Very interesting....

Two more books arrived at the house today. Books that my husband ordered for me. Two 'womenly' type gun books.

Ever get the feeling that someone is worried more about you than you are? Like this carry thing is more important for me (to him) than it is to me?
    Did that make sense?

He's so cute...and I love him with ALL my heart!

    Carry on....

Then you know what you must do. You must give him something he will never forget. Like a threesome with your hot blonde friend.

Aiming a firearm at a person is illegal here, but showing it....unholstering and pointing it at the ground for example....is not. Also, drawing a firearm in a threatening manner is illegal, but must be witnessed by 2 or more people.
It's always a good thing to know the specifics of the law where you live. I'd think it odd to not be able to unholster your gun until you are being shot at. There are plenty situations where you could use your gun and the other person not be shooting at you.

NRS 202.290 Aiming firearm at human being; discharging weapon where person might be endangered; penalty. Unless a greater penalty is provided in NRS 202.287, a person who willfully:
    1. Aims any gun, pistol, revolver or other firearm, whether loaded or not, at or toward any human being; or
    2. Discharges any firearm, air gun or other weapon, or throws any deadly missile in a public place or in any place where any person might be endangered thereby, although an injury does not result,
Ê is guilty of a gross misdemeanor.
    [1911 C&P § 344; RL § 6609; NCL § 10292]—(NRS A 1989, 820, 1240, 1243)

NRS 202.320 Drawing deadly weapon in threatening manner.
    1. Unless a greater penalty is provided in NRS 202.287, a person having, carrying or procuring from another person any dirk, dirk-knife, sword, sword cane, pistol, gun or other deadly weapon, who, in the presence of two or more persons, draws or exhibits any of such deadly weapons in a rude, angry or threatening manner not in necessary self-defense, or who in any manner unlawfully uses that weapon in any fight or quarrel, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
    2. A sheriff, deputy sheriff, marshal, constable or other peace officer shall not be held to answer, under the provisions of subsection 1, for drawing or exhibiting any of the weapons mentioned therein while in the lawful discharge of his or her duties.
    [1911 C&P § 174; RL § 6439; NCL § 10121]—(NRS A 1967, 486; 1989, 1240)

From a girl ;)....he just wants you to be as prepared and as comfortable with carrying as possible, so if you ever have to use it you will and you will do it properly. I think guys tend to think that girls won't follow through with using their weapon and would likely allow it to be taken from them, this is shown how often on tv and movies?
He also wants you to be safe when you are out and about alone, so he supports you carrying, it makes him worry less about you. He wants you to want to do it...

My bf tells me all the time, 'take your gun' and I still usually don't . He doesn't carry and I'm more familiar with guns and the laws than he is, so if he wants me to carry when we are together I will. I guess when I get a new gun and my ccw I'll carry more.

Day to day stuff, probably stopping at the gas station or grocery store. Or going into a "bad" part of town, I know where those are since I worked on the PD years ago. My neighborhood is pretty safe, I don't worry about walking around my neighborhood at night. My work place is safe considering my co-workers are all armed and retired cops and/or military. The neighborhood around my work is a high crime area, so when stopping around work I'm extra cautious. My Tacoma is a nice ride in that neighborhood and I don't "fit in" in the area if you know what I mean ;). In that area, the likely treats are car jacking and robbery or being hit by a random bullet not even meant for you. Lots of gang and drug activity in that area, also homeless people.

Other than routine, traveling to other cities/states and stopping at rest stops, gas stations etc.
Mostly when walking my dogs at a stop, at night, in a place I'm not familiar and that's probably the time I'd be an easier target since I'd be walking my dogs, but I'm always observant of the surroundings and people before I exit my vehicle and while I'm out.

Carry yourself with confidence, make eye contact with people and acknowledge them, you will increase your chance that they will pick an easier target.

Uh.... actually, I think you're only half right. Didn't they strike down the "no pistols" law last year?

Funny as it seems- Work and the trip to/from bugs me the most. I sit in a lot of traffic and/or run errands on the way....but I can't carry my gun onto base. Everywhere else I go- I take it and at least leave it secured in the car (like the mall where it's posted that guns are not welcome and the legal no carry zones.)

I live in a pretty decent part of town- but still have my handgun close by and the shotgun ready in the closet too.

I live & work in the suburbs and don't live in an area known for crime, yet I understand it can happen anywhere.

I rotate shifts and when I'm on 2nd shift (like now), It's all too easy (convenient) for me to hit the gas station, the gym, or the store after work at 12:30am. I know, I know..... I should avoid doing that. But, it's a part of my routine, and I'm familiar with my surroundings (so to speak).

I don't wanna become some-what of a paranoid person and avoid things or places just because there could be a 'threat' waiting for me.

I'm a lot more aware now than ever before....and realize just because you have a gun doesn't mean it can or should be used and/or able to use it. It's just there in case you need to use it.

So far, it feels to me that our new home in Austin, Tx is much safer than Las Vegas. I'm still carrying most of the time but there's probably less of a chance of needing it. I wonder if that's because there are so many more people who carry here legally?

If you're a resident of the District, you can legally purchase a handgun, have it registered, but you can NOT store it loaded. Also somehow, you have to register each bullet you own with the city. Something silly like that. They don't recognize VA's CHPs, so it would technically be illegal to carry my pistol in my truck to work, or even leave it in my truck while I'm at work. Even if I was allowed to, I still wouldn't be able to carry it into work because it's a Federal building.

Gotta admit, Vegas does have an ugly "feel" to it. Although my neighborhood was pretty stable and well-kept, you only went 1/2 mile in two of four directions to get to some shabby stuff.

I now live in Henderson in a very low crime area, but I work in Las Vegas in a very high crime neighborhood. I've lived here for about 25yrs now and worked with Metro for 3yrs, I know which neighborhoods are known for what crimes and which ones to be more cautious in. I don't avoid any areas, but I don't make a point to visit or hang out in certain areas either. I worked in the downtown area for about 6yrs, fun stuff lol.

I got told by my boss that I couldn't carrry at work yesterday. I can understand the logic that if i'm allowed, then everyone else is. I argued about self defence rights and the fact that our shop is in a rough part of town. I think they dont ever think something will happen....
