^^^Proper way to look at it. Another thing you need to keep in mind, say we get into a road rage fit, and you end up drawing your weapon to 'intimidate' me, I am also a lawfull CC holder as well. You pull to intimidate, I pull to defend myself from your intimidation. The intimidator is dead and the defender is scratch free in the eyes of the law because they were WELL within their rights to defend themselves from a deadly threat. That is why the smokewagon stays holstered until I am ready to kill.

In Ga if youre eligible for a permit it can be anywhere in your car loaded or unloaded....(you can not carry in someone elses car other than your own unless youre licensed...

I know I've mentioned this before...but you guys really NEED to read Massad Ayoob's book "In the Gravest Extreme"

It gets into all the legal aspects of situations involving guns being drawn/fired, etc.

Believe me, you won't be disappointed.

Man that sucks. Chances were slim to none that situation was going to turn out ok.

Conflicting reports aside, you better believe that if someone came at me with an unholstered gun, I sure as hell would shoot them before they shot me. The behavior dictates the response.

The fire line requirements for your CWP, or whatever acronym your state uses, are not hard. They are designed to let the majority of folks pass.
Don't stop there. If you have a good instructor he probably has an actual business of providing firearms classes. Ask him what else he offers, and keep improving your skills.

Shooting a paper target from 25yds is not hard. Shooting moving targets when you have to move around the range taking cover and getting your shooting angles right is a lot harder, but a lot more life-like. Think about that when you get your permit.

there shouldnt be any requirements to carry a weapon...it is nothing more but a tax and a very burdensome tax especially on the low income....where they much choose to go with self defense or to eat

I think the story about the 56 y.o. Dad is tragic but a perfect example as to why you should NEVER EVER pull a gun unless your life is in specific danger.

The father should have stayed in his car, not approached the other vehicle, with or without a gun. That escalated the situation.

I don't know why the other driver cut off the father but it is possible it was not intentional. We've all done stupid stuff.

When the other driver saw the father approaching with a gun in hand he did exactly what I would have done, except I would emptied the entire magazine into the individual coming at me with a gun.

NEVER EVER pull a gun unless you are in immediate danger.

Absolutely. Train, train train. Not just your gun skills but train your mind as well. They go hand in hand.

Anyone who is thinking about carrying should take the time to read the book "In The Gravest Extreme" by Massad F. Ayoob.

Great book by someone that knows more than all of us here combined.

Fixed that for ya :D I'm sure we have some pretty smart, and pretty educated people on this board.

One day, when I'm rich, I'm going to buy a house with a yard big enough for my own range. Then I can put mock-up's in plywood and practice CQB'ing my house. Of course, my wife will probably nix the idea, but that's my fantasy world.

Some people (IMO) don't deserve that right.

Applying for it helps ensure LAW ABIDING citizens enjoy that right.

This happened to me a few years ago.

I was driving on the I-17 south bound in the city, in the HOV (far left) lane. A guy in a an old Caddy (who happened to be black) kept trying to get around me (I was on cruise control). This guy would get up to 90 or so just to slam on his brakes when there wasn't enough room to cut me off. This went on like 3 or 4 times.
It was a nice day and we both had our windows down and I could tell he was getting more and more pissed and I thought it was kind of funny. Now mind you, I wasn't screwing with him at all, just on CC doing like 75mph.
At several points we were driving right next to each other. Finally, on his last failed attempt to cut me off, he went full retard and started swerving at my Ranger dramatically. He nearly side-swiped me several times with his big Caddy and I almost crashed into the barrier wall as I was tring to avoid getting hit.
This all happened pretty quick but I grabbed my pistol out of the seat holster I had at the time and made it clear to him that I was effing serious.
    That changed his whole attitude.
He drifted back a-ways in traffic for a few minutes, probably to clean himself up.
Maybe 5 or 6 minutes later his lane was moving a bit faster than mine and he passed me by with his arm out the window making a lazy peace sign as he casually drove by.

Our creator has given us Physics. Physics has nothing to do with legalities of owning firearms.

Humanity has contaminated itself with stupidity and why democracy was created.

You say this but you've spent plenty of time applying for permits to carry/concealed carry firearms, no??

The word republic is used once in the Constitution and in reality we are more of a Representative Democracy...
