I had a Glock 26 that I was using. Picked up the LCP and instant decision was made. Still love the Glock, but the LCP is amazing for what it's intended use is.

It sounds like the kid pulled a gun when an intruder entered his house. Intruder fled, kid did not shoot. Intruder stopped partway into the yard and turned around with his gun in his hand, and kid opened fire and missed, hitting his leg.

If that happened the way I just described, the cop should certainly say good job... That's about how I'd hope somebody would use a firearm. Pull it, if the threat backs down or leaves let them go (and call the police if you haven't already), but if they decide to change their minds and become a threat again, shoot them.

Also, an IWB holster I've used (that is also a great deal) is the kholster (www.kholster.com). Very, very comfortable, and they come for just about any gun.

This thread reminded me of family guy lol.

Founding Father 1: All right, we have our Constitution ready.
Founding Father 2: Shouldn't we fix the second amendment about the right to bear arms?
Founding Father 3: What's there to not understand? Every American has the right to hang a pair of bear arms on their wall.

Had a gun pulled out on me at a party and that barrel looked like a damn howitzer cannon when it was held up to me. It pissed me off more than scared me but I seen the kid a couple weeks later and beat the living shit out of him.

My grandpa always told me that if I got into I knife fight that either me or the other guy is going to die. I carry that over to guns. Don't threaten a person with it, if you pull it you better be damn ready to fire our else they'll just want to find you and kick your ass....but I guess you can pull it again haha.

And maybe this time theyll have one too.

If I'm not at school or church I have my Sig p229 in my waistband or my 1911 under my left arm.

Thank God, I'd never had to use them and deal with the ensuing legal :crapstorm: afterwards.

I don't know about FL, but NC is that way... State of emergency OR riot.. Those are the two times I'd want to be able to carry with out worry.

    5. Areas of Emergency and Riot
It is also a misdemeanor under North Carolina law for a person to transport or possess, off his or her own premises, a dangerous weapon in an area during a declared state of emergency, or in the vicinity of a riot. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-288.7

A concealed handgun permit does not allow a permittee to carry a weapon in these areas. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-415.11(c)

I've never had to use or pull mine.

I started out with keeping a XD 40 in my center console but after awhile I had the same things happen other people have posted about (Gas stations, parking lots, etc...) so now I carry a pocket pistol with me. The only issue I have is my work doesn't allow firearms, so I have to remember to take it out when I get to work.

Oh yeah and the bank! The first week I was carrying it I was almost in the doors when I remembered I had it on me and when back to the truck.... I make sure now when I get out to think about it ;) I don't want to end up like that guy who took it into the court house.

Never used mine, but I keep my H&K USP .40 in the center console of my Tacoma at all times and will occasionally throw it on the belt, just in case.

I know I'm going to ruffle some feathers so forgive me, but being Canadian, I just don't understand why a majority of Americans have a hard on about their right to carry firearms, doesn't it just cause more problems? I think the media has to take some of the blame as the fear monger like its going out of style. IMO I don't think there is a need to carry a weapon as shit could happen to anyone at anytime! I am probably more likely to get hit by a Bus/car crossing the street than to get shot at by some thugs! So by this reasoning should I be allowed to carry anti-tank weapons just in case?

You're right, shit can happen to anyone at anytime, but wouldn't it make sense to be able to defend yourself when shit comes at you? If you compare the areas which allow concealed carry versus the ones that do not, the crime rate is significantly different between the two. Much lower in the concealed carry areas.

It's all relative as well though, if you live in an area that is safe with a lot of LE presence, then the need to carry or the idea of a need to carry probably won't be relavent.

If you just happen to be an honest hard working normal person living in a bad neighborhood where crime is non-stop, then you're thoughts on carrying or having a firearm are probably drastically different.

If you use the crosswalk you are probably less likely to get hit by a car or bus, given they give you a cue when it is time to cross the road. If not you can get a ticket :) If you're crossing the street "legally" or walking down a dark alley, your odds of getting hit vs getting shot at by some thugs will probably change!

What you see is a small minority of Americans posting here. I don't know the numbers, but I would get that there are probably less than 3 percent of Americans that are carrying a gun on any given day.

I have seen horrible things first hand. Murders, home invasions, rapes, violent assaults, shootings, stabbings, etc. I'm glad you somehow have enough information to think that no one needs to be able to defend themselves, their family, or their friends.

Have a nice day living in your bubble of safety.

Give the guy a break. As much as he doesn't understand your need to carry, you don't understand at all his lack of a need to carry.

I'm Canadian as well and I think it is important to remember when having this discussion cross border, that the States have a gun culture. We do not. For a Canadian to say Americans are foolish for carrying is ignorant and vise versa.

Bad shit happens anywhere, anytime to anyone. Because of the culture of the States, it makes sense for you to consider carrying as a defence method. In Canada, we tend to do things like take self defence classes because guns aren't engrained in our culture.

And to the guy who previously argued (against the previous Canadian) that the crime rate is lower in CCW areas than in ones that do not allow it, your stat gathering is from a selective frame of reference. If you compare the crime rate of the United States (with gun carriers) to Canada, where most people are shocked to find I even own a gun, you'll find that the crime rate in Canada is much lower. So if your argument is trying to state that having guns as a part of your culture makes for a safer environment, you are wrong. I'm not suggesting guns cause crime, but they don't prevent it either.
