    Honestly???

I absolutely HATE the political BS that goes along with 'guns'. Every time there's a 'gun topic', there's always the political BS that goes along with it. People bickering back-n-forth about government & different countries....bla fricken bla. Shut up already!! :D

It's legal to own a gun. So, why can't we have guns and own them because WE WANT TO??

It's a hobby and unfortunately a 'controversial one' at that. So what? I personally don't care about the political/governmental issues that go along with it. I own, shoot, and probably will carry in the future...because I want to!!

There are crazy-ass people in this WORLD (notice, I said WORLD). It might be fate or Gods plan for some lunatic to take my life earlier than expected..... but maybe it was Gods plan for me to carry and protect myself. Who the hell knows what Gods plan is. I'm not religious.... but the thought of being ONE UP on the crazy-ass people is much better than being hurt or killed. (sorry, rant...)

I wish New Jersey had a more open view on guns. The crap you have to go thru just to buy one, buy ammo, etc., is enough to make you give it up.

NO CCW either. You can get in trouble more ways than there is bandwidth to describe it. Unbelieveable.

In WWII, Japan 's highest ranking naval officer was Isoruku Yamamoto.
Although he was Japanese, and his loyalties were unquestionably with
The Empire, he studied for many years in America , graduating from
Harvard University . There is an oft-repeated (and sometimes
disputed) quote attributed to him regarding the possibility of any
nation taking a war to American soil:

"You cannot invade the mainland United States . There would be a rifle
    behind every blade of grass."

Here is why he was correct:

America's Hunters. The World's Largest Army.

The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without
someone getting killed. That's great, considering there were over
600,000 hunters that got permits this year.

Allow me to restate that number.

Over the last two months, the eighth largest army in the world - more
men under arms than Iran; more than France and Germany combined -
deployed to the woods of a single American state to keep the deer
    population under control.

But that pales in comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of
Pennsylvania this week. Michigan 's 700,000 hunters have now returned
home. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia , and it is
literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone would
comprise the largest army in the world.

And that is just FOUR states.

The total population of registered hunters in America today ranges
from 23 million to 43.7 million individuals. (Based on annual data
provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.)

As long as the American Hunter retains his right to Bear Arms, America
will forever be safe from foreign invasion of troops.

Hunting - it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of
    national security.

I had an incident back in 2005. I was picking a friend up from work waiting in my car by the front door when this guy pulled up behind me and started laying on his horn. Now mind you I was not blocking anything and he could have easily gone around me but instead he had a bug up his ass about something. So, he kept laying in on his horn and I was ignoring him up until the point he got out of his car and approached my window. The "Thug" started cursing me and spewing all kind of racial remarks then simultaneously reached in his pants and yelled "I should kill you Cra**." On that note I presented the business end of my Kimber aimed right at his head and he must have $shit his pants. He ran back to his car and took off.

Hind sight being 20/20 I should have shot him. Most likely would have prevented some crimes or saved us people that actually pay taxes his inevitable life in prison. Then again it would have most likely ended in me paying a lawsuit to the scum suckers family.

Hell, when TPD showed up they cleared me of any wrong doing and told me I was "well composed in that situation."

At that time: Kimber Custom Compact; Daves SOB holster.

I'm not sure I'd strap one on either - and simply because my lifestyle would require constantly taking it on/off or changing CC location. The last thing I need is to be constantly fiddling with a gun.

Has she thought about carrying something in her purse? They have special CC purses with special side pouches.

I'm still 'on that fence' about the whole thing. I think eventually I'll carry.... but its one of those things we're *looking into* and trying to get trained before jumping right in. So, we'll see. I might take some classes and it may totally change my thoughts about how/where to carry. You never know....

Janster, look around your area for an IPSIC/IDPA club. They teach and compete with practical pistol techniques and some ofthe classes are tailored to CCW, female carry situations etc. The best thing you can do is to PRACTICE with the weapon/ammo you're going to carry. I bought my GF an airsoft pistol that is pretty realistic to what we carry so she can practice her draw, sight alignment, squeeze around the house.

Some people need to simply go away. I agree 100% with your assessment of the pros and cons of your situation.

My bottom line is: If someone sticks a gun in anyone's face--unprovoked--they have relinquished their right to walk among law-abiding citizens.

Because they have done it before, or will do it again. It's not a one-time thing.

Funny you should say that.... My husband and I play airsoft pretty regularly. I have an airsoft pistol that I use with a drop-leg holster. :D

We belong to Palmyra Sportsman Association and they host classes with Direct Action Tactical. I'm not sure they have a specialized class for women, I'll have to check that out. We have been eyeballing their classes. Just trying to allign our scheduling and making sure we'd be prepared for the class.

We've also been watching some of the TV shows on Spike, etc. I think we'd love to take a vacation to some sort of week-long training event. That'd be really cool!!!

Training is a must. And a good CCW class will also inform you of the legal responsibilities that go with carrying a lethal weapon. And the ramifications if you actually have to use it.

She has some of the same carry issues that you mention. Carrying into work is a no-no, but she has a decent walk into the building from a parking area surrounded by trees. She parks out a ways to get a safe parking spot for her car :D

I have talked with her about the purse holster, but I would just like her to throw a gun in the console when she goes out as a starter to get her more comfortable with having a weapon around.

When I first introduced her to guns, she wouldn't even touch one. Even though I pulled the mag, locked the slide back and showed her the empty chamber.

So I am looking at baby steps here. Creating a comfort zone with the firearm.

    We'll see where it goes...

A practical class is great, I went through a lot of practical shooting courses when I was in the Navy, and at one point taught defensive techniques to women. I mentioned before, I have the MAGpul art of the tactical pistol DVD's and they are a great starting point to really look at and develop your capabilities.

and the holster at 4:18 is not concealed.
The thigh holster is rediculous. my ex wore one for 5 mins and threw it in the closet.
You can obviously tell how she walks that she is carrying in a thigh holster and the dress barely covers the bottom of the holster.

    Oh, I didn't say I didn't like it :)
But if anyone was wearing that I would assume 1 of 2 things because of her walk and movements.
    (1) She's wearing an inner thigh holster
    (2) she like's the buttsecks.
