If I was in a position to do so at a dealership, any employee in a position to move clients cars....would either need to learn and show competency to drive a manual or they would be looking for other employment.

Ditto. I'm due for oil change number 11 this weekend, haven't had a problem since the first change when the housing was damn near impossible to remove.

Nylon threads do not get tighter from age/heat/miles traveled. Period. Over torquing the housing to the point that the plastic stop flange is elastically distorted and subsequently rebounds adding increased friction is.

If this happens even if a torque wrench is used to tighten to proper value, it doesn't mean that the FRN housing is magically tightening itself...it means your torque wrench is out of calibration/damaged/bought at Harbor Freight.

I could be wrong, but I'm not.

my Toyota dealership was similar, but they at least realized it was stick before trying to drive it. Fun fact, the females working the service department were always the ones they got to drive it back. Apparently being able to drive stick goes along with being willing to work in the automotive department with a bunch of dumb guys.

Although, I have surprised folks with my HF torque wrench or cheap digi torque adapt. Had a friend who was a calibration tech checked the HF wrench once. He said it was spot on if the torque is applied smooth and slow.

I can see some additional removal torque being needed as we have to overcome static friction on all surfaces as well as the o ring taking a set. Still though, it was roughly equivalent to removing a canister filter.

Like you said though, if it isn't deformed into place, there should be no struggle.

I have to laugh, when I started at one job I was asked 2 questions did I have a drivers license and could I drive a stick, they had 2 other people with license because 9 had DUI's and of course I could drive a stick. Got the job. Another job was at a dealership and a kid who wanted to keep his hands clean came back after grabbing keys for a manual he was like you, he had no clue how to start it. I'm wondering how he got a job there.
