    Just to clarify for you:

for 1st gen tacomas- MUST be on the lowest setting for 3+" lift

for 2nd gen tacomas-they go to the 2nd clip for 3'' of lift as they weight more.

That article you posted is referring to 2nd gens. 1st gens are meant for lowest setting only.

Here's a question I have that could help you out...

Does anyone know if he could add 1/4" or 1/2" top plate spacers to achieve the height he's wanting?

No. Shouldn't need too until he has lots of weight up front. As in plate bumper skids and winch.

For 2nd gens yes. 885s and 886s should be at lowest setting on 5100s

I understand that. But let's say he did have 200+ pounds of weight up front and because of the added weight he went from 3.25" lift up front to 2.75" of lift. Now, to get back to 3.25" of lift Is it safer/ better to add a 1/4" top plate spacer to maintain the 3.25" lift the Eibachs initially gave? Or would that have the same negative effect as moving the C clip to the middle setting?

I'm trying to figure out the difference between a 1/4" or 1/2" top plate spacer compared to setting the C clip on the 2nd setting on Bilsteins when paired with EIBACH coils. I can see that the coil compression is one difference because when adjusting the C clip it compresses the coil and a top plate spacer does not. But my main question is which option is worse on suspension parts like ball joints, tie rod ends, etc...?

id do a 1/4'' top spacer.
