First of all, I should state that I don't drive a lot of highway miles with my truck much anymore. I live and work in LA driving about 90% city & 10% highway

Recently went on a couple of hundred-mile long road trip and was not super happy with how the truck drove at highway speeds (75mph+) At those speeds the steering felt really light and at times I had very little confidence driving the truck over 80mph. Specifically going downhill and turns while on the highway. It was not a windy day or anything, just to clarify. I'm usually a very confident driver having driven all sorts of vehicles in different types of environments. I've owned both full-sized and mid-sized trucks before and never had this issue.

The truck has completely stock suspension with 30k miles on the truck itself. The only modification to the drivetrain is 265/70/17 tires over the stock 265/65/17 size.

So my question is, has anyone else experienced this with there truck? Do I need to take it into the dealership for this or are there any front suspension recalls for these trucks? I feel that I shouldn't have these kinds of issues with such a low miles vehicle.

Any and all help would be appreciated!

If it feeling like it was wandering you might need an alignment.

When is the last time you had an alignment done?

Getting an alignment was going to be my next move if no one else could relate to this issue.

Tires were at 34psi all way around

I drive on the highway all the time. Other than having absolute crap MPG, my truck drives great. I usually go 65-70. FWIW, I keep my tires at 37psi.

You must have the California edition... it’s not designed to go over 20mph on the freeway.

I would definitely have the alignment checked. If your caster is in spec, have them push it forward more.

I drive state highways daily, 60 to 65 and sometimes up to 75 :bikewheelie2:....

I have driven many times on Interstates with speeds over 75 to 80 and truck is fine. Definitely check tires, rotate, and or alignment. It is not a Audi q5 at cruising speeds, but does not feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

The Taco feels in the zone at 80 to 85. The MPGs don't like it, but the truck just eats up the miles at that speed.

I commute 40mi (round trip) daily on 75mph Texas highways. Set the cruise at ~78-79. I have no issues whatsoever.

I drive about 60% hey and have a 2.5 inch lift with 265/70/17 (bfg ko2s C rated) tires and doing 80mpg is as stable as can be. I'm at 33 psi. More than likely it's your alignment.

As others said, get alignment done, specifically caster, ask them to set it to the max of the allowed range, (probably about 3 to 3.5).

I drove from Maine to Illinois this week, heading back tomorrow... No such issues to speak of, tires 38-39 psi averaging 22-23mpg if I don't use cruise control averaging between 77 and 80mph

This made me LOL, I'd wager it eats up exactly 80 to 85 miles every hour.

I don’t have any issues and I drive several hundred miles a month at 80-85.
Now winds and road crown can have an affect.

Portal axles and the wheel bearing fun, no doubt!

    :rofl::rofl:

    I assumed that you knew.

They have portal axles / gear reduction hubs. So, lots of driveline lash.

Also with those axles, they tend to chew up wheel bearings.
