So, I've been an autoworker for the past 30 years building F150s. It's great truck, not taking anything away from it, but I've always thought the Tacomas looked a hell of a lot cooler, had a stellar rep, killer aftermarket, and my neighbor had this nice blue one.
He was out shining it up three days ago, and I told him its only gonna get dirty again, and he told me he was selling it. I asked him, how much you gonna ask? he said he's just selling it to the dealer for 6k. What to do?! I was so conflicted. It wasn't a Ford, and Toyota is kind of a bad word around a UAW plant, but I mean if your buddies gonna get screwed, shouldn't it be by friends of family? And there's no denying the Tacomas are SICK!
Anyway, 2006, 225k, v6 at, shifts and runs perfectly, seems to have a lot of options, new frame and all goodies that need to be replaced with it as of 2016, 17" rims from a newer Tacoma with 265/70/17.
He claims the suspension needed work, but if he wouldn't have said anything, I wouldn't have known by driving it. What a great Truck! However it is in pretty bad need of ball joints and tires etc. Only corrosion on the whole vehicle is at the very bottom of the tailgate, and looks like leaf springs and lcas came with the frame, even though the balls are shot after another 100k miles or so. Any I tend to ramble, so if you stuck with me this far I'm guessing it was a slow day, and thanks for your time!

Don't drive it to work. Unless you park it in the unpaved "back lot".

Mo, and actually you guys would be surprised how many people have hired in, in recent years and still keep their foreign cars. They get shit for it, but the days of keying denting and worse are long over. Hell a person got fired for throwing coffee on the car of a coworker he was pissed at. Zero tolerance on any violence or serious bullying etc.

My back and forth to work car is 14 focus, the taco will be used for hauling/towing/camping, and will be a future mall crawler and daily driver once I retire in a year or two
