After draining and capping the drain plug on my diff and transfer case I filled them both until fluid was flowing out of the fill hole. I let them both sit for about 15 mins, filled again until the fluid was coming out once more, then capped/torqued the fill plugs.

the manual says rear diff takes 3 qts but it was more like 2.5-2.7, so just wanted to make sure. I thought about checking with my finger to make sure they’re the right level after driving a little, but wasn’t sure if that’s smart considering the crush washer might be wrecked if I reuse it.

As long as you were parked on level ground, you’ll be fine.

lots of people don’t even bother to replace the crush washer and don’t have issues

You can always check it a little while later too. It’s not hard to just pop it off and check again.

You can’t drain 100%, there will be some residual fluid. Crush washers are cheap if you “need” to check the fluid level.

You should be fine. I always use Teflon tape on both my drain and fill plugs. I think it helps keep them from being too difficult to remove the next time. I can't remember the last time I bought a crush washer.
