It looks worse than It Is. I was able to turn the bolts no problem.

    None...yet
As backwards as it initially sounds, a layer of sfc rust like that can be a good thing on uncoated metal. Becomes its own coating. And I'd agree with those above. In a salt environment, that looks normal.

I put the TRD stainless exhaust on my truck three months after I bought it new in December 2010. The stock exhaust I removed looked similar to the OP's exhaust when I removed it from the truck. However I think my stock exhaust had a stamped flange instead of a solid flange like that.

This is mine with 5500 miles. There is metal obviously rusting off. I have never seen this on my 2011 that had 55,000...

I wonder what the hell is causing it to rust like that. I will mention to dealer and see what they say.

This is from my truck, I wash my vehicles every 2 weeks in the winter due to salt used to prevent this from happening. I did it to my 2011 every winter and it was no where near to what I have on my 5500 mile truck. Its odd.

That is my truck, had a 2011 for 5 winters in Utah, and washed it the same amount as I did my 2016 (every two weeks) to wash the road salt away. My 2011 never looked as bad as my 2016 with just 1 Utah winter under its belt.

Is the garage heated? My buddy did this with his 2012 tacoma and the underside of the truck looked like it had been driven through salt water repeatedly without rinsing. Reason I am asking is because heat speeds up the chemical reaction and causes rust to form much quicker. Throw in salt on the roads, and a moist environment(this is created in a hot/warm garage as all the snow/ice melts) and rust will develop quickly.

Shut the heat off in the garage or park outside to prevent rust build up and continue to rinse the underside of the truck, this will help prevent rust from developing on the vehicles. However it will do nothing to take care of the wife/gf nagging about the cold vehicle.

Here's the thing, going to a dealer for anything like this, they're gonna look for 1 thing, if the exhaust has leaks or a part has failed. That's like going to the dealer for paint scratches because some rocks jumped up from your tires and scratched something under the truck. Now, if you frame, or a safety item is rusting super bad, then they might have to address it, otherwise as stated above- your road conditions are leading to excessive surface rust. If you told me you washed the truck after every time you drove it (at work and then at home) then yeah, It might be wise to see if the dealer can replace or add a coating of some sort. But for the most part, its surface rust...when you get exhaust leaks, go hit up the dealer.

I got it bad, layers flaking off. Surface rust I guess, but its creeping on down. I don't live in a salty environment either. Gonna hit it with a wire wheel and high temp paint.

Looks pretty standard. Between you rinsing the undercarriage often and it cooking off, it doesn't look out of place.

Im guessing no, he is in Southern California. Pretty small chance of salted roads.

Mine is terrible. I got under 20k miles. Will upload a picture when I get a chance. My 05 Honda doesn't even look as bad.
