The sticker placement is too high
    Your truck is likely SR5 2.7L pre-runner
    Non-trd

    None.
The spec sheet I screenshotted on my original post is from Toyota's website. I had to click on an owner's link and input my VIN. No mention of prerunner or TRD in specs. I did see something about the SR5 option though.

It'd be great to know what I have but regardless it is a Tacoma. I think we, my mother and I, are both happy.

    4 run, 2 don't
Good eye, didn't catch the discrepancy

Could still be one, but with the sticker replaced...

All that matters is the OP bought a 1st gen Tacoma :fistbump:

If it’s helpful my tacoma is a trd pre runner and it does list those options on the site vin search.

I couldn’t tell you all the differences
But more importantly your truck is still a 6 lug! And hell its a Trd cuz it’s got the sticker

Thank you for letting me see your spec sheet. I used this VIN decoder to help identify what it is.
    https://www.weber.edu/wsuimages/automotive/T-TEN/2001 VIN Toyota.pdf

According to my VIN it is a dx, or dlx. Funny how the actual spec sheet from Toyota mentions the grade is standard though. Contradicting.
Hopefully it isn't a Frankenstein car lol.

In all honesty, it being a TRD or not, for these 1s gen Tacomas is almost irrelevant. The only things the 1st gen TRD trucks had was upgraded shocks and a locker, oh, and STICKERS! And as has been discussed, some of them (like 4cyls) didn't even have a locker.

So you basically just have the shocks and stickers. And guaranteed those shocks are worn out anyway and should be replaced. Now you're just left with the stickers.

I figure for my sanity I just say its a standard tacoma :D. This morning I took off the TRD stickers and upon closer inspection of the car. I noticed the old Tacoma badge in the back was chipping and such. Below it is what used to be prerunner badge yet missing the "p" and its also chipped and weather faded like the Tacoma badge above it.

I got my oil changed today and then gave it a nice wash and wax. Also spray painted the hub centers so they match the rims.

Overall I like the truck a lot. Gonna talk to my mom's mechanic friend and see if he can do a compression test and what not to see what it needs.
I believe you are right about the shocks. Its a rouuuughh ride depending on the road. Usually when I coast at high speeds on the highway I feel nothing. Its amazing how well this truck has held up. Will look into getting new front shocks soon.

Just do both ends at the same time. Those rear shocks have seen the same bumps the front ones have.

Careful though, you may not end up giving it to your mom to drive... My kids aren't even going to be allowed to drive mine... :D
