Im sure that many of you are aware of the 3rd gen Tacoma issues, but whats really going on?

To make a long story short, I started leasing my Tacoma several months ago, drove great off the lot. After about a month of driving my truck, I started to encounter transmission fluttering and it seemed as if my truck couldn't hold gears, so I took my truck in for a service and had the REV-1 TSB done... drove better, but not real good.

About a month after that, I started feeling harsh "jerking" motions, particularly when accelerating or applying the breaks. The best way for me to describe this feeling would be like the truck body slides on the frame. I almost always feel this when Im going over 30mph then start to take my foot off the accelerator, the truck bucks/throws me forward; vice versa on acceleration. So I took my truck in for another service, and it was found that my tranny fluid was low. Once again, drove the truck off the lot and it drove great. Fast forward to now, the truck is back to its jerking motions.

Pretty much a noob when it comes to how my truck runs mechanically. No *ucking clue what could be wrong with it anymore. The only thing that seems to draw my attention is that my truck seems to drive much better on warm days. Anything over 45 degrees and my truck seems to run flawless, anything under that and I get the jerky ride. Haven't had much warm weather to test this theory though. Maybe has something to do with tranny fluid not warming up, if thats even a thing. Can anyone thing of what might be wrong with it. There is no way my truck was designed to run like this. Dealership has not been much help lately. Need some ideas. Need some suggestions... Need some help.

    2015 LOL!!! The final solution!
In all honesty just be thankful that you leased. At least you get to give it back.

I see you went to NYE in Oneida. Good choice! My mother takes her Prius there and has had great luck with their service team taking care of ongoing problems that come and go (her 2006 is approaching 300,000). There is plenty of people who love and hate the 3rd gen. Tacoma. What you're describing sounds to me like your Torque converter locking and unlocking, or even u-joint slap.

At this point be glad you leased it and drive it; drive it a lot (within your mileage allowance) if there is a serious issue it will unfold itself.

Ps, have you checked to see if your seat is bolted firmly?

Sorry to hear about your issues. Dealers don't seem to be much help these days but its mostly Toyotas fault as they have been keeping the dealers hands tied on what they are allowed to replace for different issues. The days of shotgunning parts until a vehicle is fixed are gone.
I doubt youll get much help here either as your either making it up, a fake account, are a special case or you arent driving it correctly according to the fan boys...but trust me you are not alone.
If your truck is a lease then keep posting here and pissing off the people who don't believe there is issues and drive the fuck out of it until it destroys itself, then return your shitty lease and never look back

Welcome to my world and that of many. As a matter of fact I'm at the dealership right now because when I put truck in "drive" it wouldn't move. I have an existing open case with Toyota based on the attached last service work order. Toyota says I just have to live with it because Toyota doesn't have ant solution or recall yet. They said they want to restore my faith in my truck and gave me an extended 8year / 125k warranty. That's all good I guess, but not if I spend more time in the shop than on the road. I wish you the best of luck.

You are having consistent problems? You can demonstrate to the technician? Have you showed them?

Re-reading your OP, it kind of sounds like the torque converter lockup is sticking in cold weather. Not sure if that's exactly how this Transmission works, but you should let the shop look at it. They tried the first things they saw wrong that might contribute to the issue, they need to look at it again.

Sorry, but that's what needs to happen.
