Just watched ti again. I don't think ethics, morality, respect, and character are only for the religious. I know of a few religious figures who were quite the oposite. If God were the salvation here, how did God let this happen? Don't tell me we could keep god out of the schools. And by the way, a little thing called the Constitution keeps religion out of the schools

 

I'm sick of this whole "God" needs to be in our schools or lives and this wouldn't happen.
I am an atheist, a child of divorce and an evil "assault weapon" owner. I love violent video games, violent movies, heavy metal and I listened to tons of gangster rap in my teens. I have never and will never go on a shooting spree or use my guns to willingly harm an innocent person.
I don't need God in my life. I don't need to have my guns, video games or music taken from me.
My divorced parents raised me with respect, taught me right from wrong, and most importantly taught me to treat others as I would like to be treated.

I believe that the fault lies in some cases with the parents, in others it's just that terrible people will do these things no matter what. Call it evil but to me that's like calling a plane crash evil.

 

I heard similar sentiments with political BS thrown in too from someone on facebook today. "Liberals are the reason all these senseless acts take place. They're the ones responsible for taking Christian values away from society, and this is a direct result of that."

Probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

Also, this incident, or any other incident isn't going to lead firearms being banned in this country, or in any state. Lets be clear on that. I'm tired of reading over and over again people bitching because they're going to lose their right to own firearms. Not going to happen.

 

When something good happens, it's because of God. When something bad happens, God works in mysterious ways or it's because he was not there enough. There is also nothing he can't do or any place he can't go. So why did he allow those Amish kids get murdered a few years ago? plenty of God there? It's all BS..

As a first responder in Connecticut, I am not legally allowed to talk about much, even though I did not respond to the incident. But, as with everyone else, I wish to extend my condolences to the families of the victims and everyone else involved.

 

Someone needs to take one for the team and kill that bitch.

Probably true. That is why you either need multiple cops or allow teachers to conceal carry like Texas does. The the knowledge that there are armed individuals in a location along with the uncertainty of who is armed and who is not, makes the planning and execution of an attack like this, very difficult.

Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora Co, Newton CT were all gun free zones. Clackamas had a LTC individual that may have led to the shooter committing suicide rather than continue on his rampage. I'm pretty sure we all know why you will never see an extended shooting spree at a Police station, shooting range or at a gun shop.

 

Maybe maybe not. I'd venture to say that cop has a helluva better chance of fighting than those children.

Anyone else see that a Catholic Church in Newtown was evacuated at noon due to a threat? Someone played a bad joke... this isn't a funny thing at this point in time.

This is my problem with the arming teachers solution:

Even if they have training, you can't guarantee how they will act in the situation. They may just cower in the corner with the kids, they may panic, who knows. If someone is that committed to doing an act of rampage, no amount of security can protect someone. They are not concerned with the consequences because there is no after plan. They plan on dying in the attack.

With regards to gun control, I keep thinking to the bank robbery in LA back in the early 90's. 2 dudes had full auto AK-47's with high capacity magazines. Those weapons and the magazines were both illegal at the time. Yet they found a way to obtain them. When there's a will there's a way.

 

The prayer vigil at the New Town High School this evening was very nice. Only in America can we have that many different faiths pray together for a community. It made me very proud to be both an American, and a man of faith.

And, it may have been President Obama's best speech ever. I thought it was very well done. I cried along with the president and those in attendance, from the viewing side of my TV 1,200 miles away.

 

They were converted full auto. They pieced the parts together to convert them to the full auto they needed for the job. They received the high capacity mags from Mexico when they got out of jail the first time.

 

I understand what you're saying but if I was a teacher, I sure would like the option. Whether or not an armed teacher would've or could've stopped the attack, the worst case scenario is an armed assailant with trapped, unarmed victims.
