how can you ask a teacher to be a weapon carrier and therefore responsible for others lives in these kinds of situations. They just wanna teach. They are not cops. Oh and on their average pay scale too?

If you watched the beginning of the show I suggested with Gov Huckabee & Geraldo...you may get some of your answers.

If you missed it and are willing to park the unenlightened hate, PM me and I would do my best to try and explaign it to you.

I agree, If I were a teacher I would want the option as well. But to assume that teachers will be able to double tap the perp from 50 yrds away is just silly. I said this in another thread, but there was a shootout in NYC a few months ago and the cops all missed and shot like 4 other people. Im pretty confident in believing NY's finest will have better weapons training than a school teacher.

All of these shootings have changed my wife's view on weapons that's for sure. She's getting an early Christmas present.

Teachers can go crazy and suicidal aswell, would you want one in the school with a loaded gun. Plus a crazy student could get the gun off a teacher and kill multiple people before you knew what happened. There is no reason to have guns in a school. My school never even had a plan set in case of a shooter until my last year there (2008).

No, I am asking to allow teachers not force them. Big difference. Most won't, but some will and attackers won't know which do and which don't.

Talked to my mom today and she talked to my aunt who has a daughter in Sandy Hook. Both her kids go to that school as I mentioned earlier but I just found out today that her 5 year old daughter was the classroom next door to the one that was shot up. When they left the building they had to lock hand and close eyes and walk around the bodies. I teared up when my mom told me that today. Never realize how something can effect you until it hits close to home and family.

I went to a link from her page and found this. It is a very clear map and gives information on each of the shootings. I read on here that the majority of them had mental health problems previously documented. Just makes you wonder how much worse things can get if we don't start fixing them now?

President Obama made it clear that this has affected him in a personal way. And that this is the 4th time he's had to deal with this since becoming president.

He also made it crystal clear...he will be working to "make changes" (quote). And while I agree there needs to be changes made...they are going to be difficult because they include the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Amendant's.

Students already bring guns to schools, and a suicidal teacher that wants to kill kids will bring a gun to school law or no law. At least maybe there would be a responsible party there to stop the situation.

It is an interesting read...I dont believe someone that unstable should be in the general public. As sad at is, the mother is placing her life and her other kids lives in danger.

I had a HS friend who taught kids that were that unstable. She was attacked twice by the same kid. She was not allowed to defend her self. She would face charges if she hit the kid in defense. She's at a normal HS now.

It's pretty sad when you state that like its a normal thing. You don't see it much here in Canada but I had a friend who lived in Florida and her school had security guards that checked for guns or weapons of any kind. I wouldn't want any of the teachers I had in school running around with a gun if a shooter came in it would probably do more harm then good.

I think there's a lot of things in the US you wouldn't see in Canada or most of the developed world. Its a society/mental illness issue more than anything.

Article from 2008 in Texas. It says they were the first in the nation to allow teachers to CC at school. I agree with this, especially for the reason they are 30 minutes from the sheriff office. I think certain faculty members in a school should be allowed WITH PROPER TRAINING.

    Guns are only tools.
The real problem is sickos on the loose. Until this is fixed nothing will change. Few years ago two ex convicts broke in the house in Cheshire. Raped, choked and set on fire three women. No Guns were used. What Connecticut did? Removed death penalty. Drug addict that threatened my family get out on $200 bail next day.

I overheard folks discussing the need for more strict gun-control this morning, in light of this event.

I hate when people have knee-jerk reactions. They all join into a "shitstorm of butt-hurt pilgrims jumping on the blame-wagon to Absurdistan" -Maddox
