You got it! With the one added bit that Kings may offer the best offroad performance, but they provide performance at the expense of quality. Meaning that they may have better methods of tuning shocks, but the shocks they build are of lower quality which is why they perform well for a short period of time and then need a rebuild. Fox is the exact opposite, highest quality materials but the tuning itself could use a little work admittedly. Thats why the best of both worlds would be a set of custom tuned Fox shocks from accutune offroad.

Mine just went in got the truck back on friday so not sure yet how it will perform will know this coming weekend. But ride is harsh in the back. Not sure if its from the shocks not being set to softest or just cause I'm running Dakars with no weight in the back. Bed is completely empty so hard to tell.

Even in the front its a little rough right now but thinking again a mix of springs still new and stiff and the shocks not being dialled in yet.
I was reading through the warranty and maintenance parts for the fox stuff and it says every 50 000miles for rebuilds of all on road, 10 000miles if 50/50, but I'm nder the impression thats implying jumping it and doing baja racing like this suspenion is meant for. Not the rock crawling overlanding type trails I do a few times a month in the summer/fall months lol. Time will tell how long I get between rebuilds but hoping for at least 2 years between rebuilds if not more. I've had the truck for 10 months now and got about 17 000km on it so still nothing. Daily driving is short trips 20-30miles round trip. Figure I should be closer to the 50 000mile service since I wont be doing any sort of demanding trails in terms of fast movements really making the shocks work. I only went with them for the added wheel travel to get some more 'flex' out of the truck.

But regardless from all I've heard about the Kings, they might be amazing when blasting through the desert but unless you've got the in come or tools to do rebuilds yourself they are way to expensive to maintain.

I'm hoping I can dial in the fox a bit better for daily driving.
I haven't had mine in long enough to say whether I'm happy or not. So far happy but time will tell.

I will say the one big issue I am having with them is in the front...I can just barely get the wheel off the ground now cause I've got so much travel haha. Not really a problem for driving but making it a pain in the ass to do any sort of maintenance.

Sounds normal to me! Mine were stiff out of the box too. If anything, have your local offroad shop check the nitrogen pressure on your shocks and make sure they are all up to spec. Once you get over about a 1-2K miles they will soften up a bit and then you can get them dialed in for your setup. I ended up with no high speed dampening front or rear and 1 or 2 clicks of low speed dampening in the front with none in the rear.

Totally forgot about bilstein, which I was also looking at. It was just my opinion on a subject that I'm definitely not an expert. Probably just know a hair more than the OP! I assume your also a PROUD ADS owner?

Haha no but I do like/respect their stuff. I have fox shocks which I like a lot too! I didn't know about ADS when I bought my shocks and also I love that Fox is all about build quality.

    Lol

You mean an allen wrench, screw driver and a ratchet set? Takes like 10 minutes to rebuild a shock with basic tools...

    Come on Joe

OP be careful whose advice you buy. Lots of good information here but learn to weave through the biased opinions. You will see searching through forums what the consensus is, you wont find it in a single thread.

King and ADS are considered to be the best overall, Fox are ok and Icon has a lot of reported issues on this forum with a few customer service complaint threads. OME BP-51s have great reviews but limited number of people have them, their regular suspensions are serviceable and relatively maintenance free.

Overall in comes down to cost/need.

    to rebuild a remote reservoir?
    I wish.

to change the oil, valving, and recharge with nitrogen
Most shops send them out to be rebuilt for a reason.
Not so much that they are hard to rebuild but the equipment isn't cheap.

    Stock for now...
I just picked up the Performance Bilstein Kit w/ OME Dakar's from Headstrong. Always had great luck with Bilstein and you just can't beat the price IMO

Ya man, its literally an allen wrench, ratchet, and screw driver, maybe a vice to hold it. You just replace the seals and oil, shims and piston should be good. The only 'challenge' is recharging it.

ya not many have the tools to do the recharge lol.

And it also means taking the shocks out and what not. Its not the easiest job.
the way you said allen wrench and ratchet made it sound like a basic oil change haha.

Its a bit more complex than that.
