Well to each their own. I figure if you can afford a set of kings you can spend a few bucks on tools. I like to DIY, others dont though so I get it.

I decided to go all in at the start with a complete ARB OME BP-51 2” lift kit through Headstrong Offroad.

Main difference I’ve noticed in my truck’s handling since the lift is that it doesn't lean in or feel soft in the turns. Driving uphill with a load, it handles the washboard much better. Its a touch stiffer, as I expected on the street, but not bad. The softer C load tires help with that some. Really nice, smooth ride off road in all the conditions I normally see. Consider being able to rebuild these shocks down the road as a major plus.

Glad I decide to go all in from the start with a full suspension lift instead of a spacer/block lift. If I didn’t intend to be off road that much, I might consider another less expensive lift and AAL’s.

I got a set of 8112/8100 shocks, and went with 650Lb springs (front bumper and winch) and think they are outstanding on and off-road.
The specs on these are pretty impressive. They are certainly beefy. But so is the price. But I thought it was worth it.

On roads were I notice some excessive tire noise in my Tacoma, I'm bottoming out and jumping around like a bucking bronco in a stock dodge 1500.
Rides smoother on city streets vs a stock 1500 too.
But I take corners in my Tacoma like I was driving a civic.
Barely any nose dive or body roll.
    Much more control than stock.

Elka also makes some excellent suspension options for the Tacomas.

With over a year on these shocks, yep they have held up great.
So far there is no difference in height a year later, no Taco lean etc.
(Icon RXT option 1 leafs in the rear)

The ONLY complaint I would have about these, is the rear shock zinc coating is not all that thick,
when I put the rears on first, I just gave them a quick shot with Fluid Film.
(it was too cold to use something cosmoline based) as it was winter.
All the spray in the wheelwells along with all the salt they use up here and I started to get surface rust on the reservoirs and on the shock body.

After I put cosmoline on it, they held up fine.

Fronts are not showing any corrosion at all. (But they were treated with CorrosionX-Hd, not Fluid Film)

So for lessons learned I would recommend either cleaning off the packing oil on them and give them a clear coat of High Temp paint or put some something cosmoline based on them right away.

(Don't use regular paint, as these shocks do get hot if you go over a washboard that is a few miles long).

Would not hesitate to continue recommending these shocks and spring setup to anyone.
