So I'm less than a week from moving to Wichita Falls TX. Already been shopping around online for a Tacoma when I get there. I've got two top contenders lined up but thought I would use the community for some advice. 1st one is a 2009 O/R 60k miles. 2nd is a 2012 O/R 73k miles. Both similarly priced. So the question is. Which is better? A 7 year old truck with low miles? Or a 4 year old truck with kind of high mileage? Look forward to input.

2012. The newer face looks cooler and I believe the interior is a little bit more updated. Could be wrong though.

I agree on the facelift and interior update being nice. But in the end I want want ever is going to last longer. Thanks for the input though. Definitely on my mind for choice.

They're only 10k miles apart. If you're gonna drive it for a long time, get something you enjoy/like. Don't settle for one over the other because of 10k miles.

10K miles on these trucks is negligible. Go with the 2012, the exterior and interior facelifts are worth it IMO. The dash, front end, and steering wheel are more "refined."

Agree. We just got a 2016 4Runner and it makes my 2011 Taco interior look old.

    Get the 2012.

I agree with the 2012 camp. 13k miles is negligible on a Tacoma, especially in a dry environment. Chances are either will last longer than you will want to keep it.

Whatever you think you're saving on wear and tare with the 2009 is comparable in time to the mere 13k additional miles on the 2012. So I recommend the 2012.

2012, easy choice. 10k miles is nothing.

I have an 09 Prerunner I bought last year, she's got bout 73k on her now and runs like a clock. Having said that if the trucks are equal in maintenance upkeep, no wrecks etc I would suggest the 2012. I looked at a Tundra at a dealership in Virgina before I bought the Taco. Sales dude said it was not from a commercial user and the carfax agreed. I started poking around, the truck had a class 3 hitch, after market brake assist and the bed was beat to hell. Whoever owned it looked like they may have had a side business where he was pulling a Bobcat or something hefty. Just make sure you're comparing Apple's to Apple's.

Carfax is the most easiest manipulated worthless piece of paper. Glad you looked around and investigated, never ever go by a Carfax report. Take it to a private mechanic and have it looked at.

I take Carfax with a grain of salt but it's usually pretty accurate when it comes to who owned the vehicle, commercial or private, whether it's a lease etc. I don't trust it when it comes to accidents etc. I always have the b.s. detector on when I deal with a salesman of any stripe. Funny story a few years back I had a kid trying to sell me a home alarm service for "free". I told him I already had one that's reliable made by a company called Ithaca. Said he never heard of em and went on his happy way.
