do 1.5" suspension lift and 1.5" from upsizing tires, combined 3", should be good with no side effect such as CV boot angle, etc?

Some more obscure things to think about:

    - Head lamp alignment. Don't be that guy who lifts their truck and doesn't reconfigure their headlamps.
    - Will all of your TSS systems work? I actually don't know the answer to this, but i've heard that lane departure, dynamic cruise, and pedestrian detection may not operate correctly post lift.

They also say that certain sections of hair on the top your head can start falling out after a lift.

I think the best advice for a lift is if you really need one, otherwise your better off not to.

Have you considered trading in the Pro on something like a SR, and lifting that instead. Your Pro should have retained most of it's value. Then lift and modify the SR.

Not much of a solution if you want to lift your TRD Pro.

Another thing, check and write down your driveshaft angles. This might be helpful if you have vibrations after lift

It’s funny reading posts like this on this forum. Most of this forum is dedicated to changing these trucks around and making them look cooler and do more things. So people, like myself, come here for advice to do just that. Then when you say something like “why change the truck unless you have to” it just seems contrary to this place. I suspect nobody actually has to change these things around unless they intend on doing some serious like rock climbing or off roading. But let’s face it there are much better truck platforms for those things than the Tacoma.

So it's a daily and you like the ride, but 33's look cool so you want to pay to destroy the ride?

It isn't mentioned much, but larger/heavier tires have significant performance costs, especially in braking.

Just so I understand you, because I truly am ignorant of these things, you’re saying that all these thousands and thousands of men and women here who have put bigger tires and lifts on their Tacoma‘s have “destroyed the ride”???

I think it is highly unlikely you are going improve the ride of a stock weight daily driven Pro. Stock weight and daily driven being the key terms here.

I know you said "most," but just so you know there are threads for stock trucks, too. There are threads for gun stuff, tent stuff, hell there are threads dedicated to saying good morning every single day to someone you have never met. The Tacomaworld is your oyster.

You didn’t really answer my question but that’s OK. For me personally I will be splitting the amount of time I drive between two vehicles. However I still will probably put 15 to 20,000 miles a year on this Tacoma. That’s why I went with P285s and not LT285s. I will be using this truck in some off-road situations like hunting camps and such. However that will probably only be 5% of the time or less. So now I’m pondering your statement that I’ve ruined my ride. I wonder where you and the other couple of naysayers in this thread were when I was researching what to put on this truck 8 or 10 days ago and asking all these questions. Fascinating

    I already did. :)

I think it looks and rides fine. There is some slight rubbing but I understand a CMC can fix that. I guess this guy Timbo in Lakeland Florida can fix me up. I reached out to him via PM (and another local guy) and haven’t heard back yet. I’m also going to get it tuned. Found a guy local here that does the KDMAX tune. I wasn’t really criticizing the guy above I was just wondering why I didn’t hear from him or others like him when I was inquiring about this. Plus it seems to me that 95% of the people here all have bigger tires and wheels on their Tacoma ‘s. I really am new at modifying trucks. I haven’t had a truck in four years and then it was always F150s. This is my first midsize truck. At my age I really enjoy driving sports cars. I have a Mercedes C450 and now I have a BMW M3 coming from Germany. But I definitely needed a truck for my trailer and four wheeler as well as Hunting Camp. The Tacoma seemed perfect. I always wanted one in the 1990s but I could never afford it back then.

Best advice. This is what I would do. Very little expense, and ride quality stays the same. then go to 265/75/16's for another half inch in height increase and you just lifted the truck 1.5 inches.

You didn’t really answer my question but that’s OK.

Did you expect a yes or no answer to a Kathy Newman-esque "so what you're saying is..." assertion involving supposedly thousands of people's experiences?

For me personally I will be splitting the amount of time I drive between two vehicles. However I still will probably put 15 to 20,000 miles a year on this Tacoma. That’s why I went with P285s and not LT285s. I will be using this truck in some off-road situations like hunting camps and such. However that will probably only be 5% of the time or less. Ok

I wonder where you and the other couple of naysayers in this thread were when I was researching what to put on this truck 8 or 10 days ago and asking all these questions. Fascinating

So what you're saying is... every single member didn't respond to new guy's "what lift and tires" question? Something else for you to ponder

OP, spend your money how you like and enjoy. Some people like to bolt things to their truck because it looks cool. Some like to add/change things with a purpose. You will get all types. They will ask different questions and make different recommendations. You will get the most benefit the most by taking it all in.

I agree with the "RatDaddy" comment above. Several years ago a fellow set his truck up on frame stands - then assembled the front suspension without springs and reported his findings on here. Close inspection, using full travel and a half inch spacer didn't reveal any mechanical binding points or full extension of the shock. That adds about an inch under the front X-member. I put a 32 inch tire on my truck, came with 30.5's - and that gave me 3/4" under the same point. Very practical method for some useful clearance - and little change in road manners. Together they would give a bit more off-road capability without some of the commonly reported lift problems.

I am calling an emergency meeting of the "anti engineering changes for cosmetic purposes league" to address how we missed this.
