    Hi, All

New guy here considering a 30,000 mile 2010 TRD from no-snow Alabama

PO was an older gent who is no longer driving.

What can die from lack of use?

I understand the 4WD can suffer if not used......can this be reversed by starting exercise now?

Tires, too, of course. What else, though?

Would a higher mileage more, but newer, truck actually be a better bet?

    Thanks for any thoughts....

If the frame checks out and the price is right I wouldn’t think twice. Assuming it didn’t sit for a few years and was just driven periodically over the years.

I believe that the solenoid is the part of the 4WD system that suffers if it's not used, and that can be replaced. It doesn't affect normal 2WD use so you can drive it until you fix it no problem.

Tires will probably need replacement pretty quickly if it's been outside.

    Battery should be checked.

I would count on needing to flush and replace your fluids as soon as you reasonably can, especially brake fluid because it absorbs water and that affects braking (the water boils at a much lower point and you can lose braking power). Coolant and engine oil should be done soon but as long as it has enough in the system it isn't an emergency.

The only thing I can think of is making sure that no rodents or insects are nesting in the truck!

You can find the official maintenance schedule and run through it when you get the chance.

That truck sounds like a great find, good luck!

I would much prefer a lower mileage truck, probably a flush of all the fluids, running a fuel additive may also be a good idea. Like mentioned before if the frame is good and the price is right it sounds like a sweet deal!!
