Sure. I can unserstand normal frame rust, but it isnt the same corrosion issue as with the 1st gens, correct?

There are rust issues in the second generation Tacoma frames. And damn near any vehicle that lives (and dies) in the rust belt states.

That may be so, but I’ve never owned a vehicle that was known for the body to just rust out. They’ve always been Ford or Chrysler cars and have all lived their life in the Detroit area. Maybe I’m blowing this out of proportion completely and maybe I havent done my homework.

I’ve seen that tacomas are objectively better than most other midsized trucks on the market, but can I ask why if I’m gonna be kept up at night worrying about my vehicle splitting in two?

I dont mean to sound like an asshole. I’m just uneducated, I suppose.

Everyone here has bern super helpful. It means a lot hearing this stuff from everyone. I can’t thank you all enough.

Its the Toyota curse unfortunately...any vehicle in the rust belt is likely to see some rust but Toyotas get it bad...so bad that they've had numerous lawsuits filed and have been made to replace the rusty frames on thousands of vehicles from the 1st gen Tacoma to the 2nd gens. Only 2004 Tacomas still qualify for the frame replacement program assuming they meet the qualifications though.

Pre-2001 Tacomas had a buyback program for the rusted out ones but that ended many years ago.

    A little update:

Looked over the frame again and found two spots near the rear wheels and i was able to push right through with barely any resistance.

    NOPE

    I’ll be continuing the search
