I have a friend in a similar situation. What he did was kept his truck, and just purchased a 2001 Honda Accord w/ 89K miles for $3500. The way he figured it was he had 0 payment, it was really cheap to register, and he gets avg 30 mpg. He keeps his truck and puts less miles on it keeping it in better condition. Just registering a newer honda was 400 + so that is almost a 1/8 of the car cost.

I would hold on to her, you will hate not having it and ya you will save a little cash at the tank, but you will really regret it. Unless you dont use 4x4, dont use the bed, and never go fishing then HOLD ON!

Also have you considered airing up the tires and getting a cheap highway set? My other friend drives iwth 245's and he gets close to 28 mpg's @ 48psi and the set was super cheap?

Sorry if I missed it earlier OP , why did you get a pick up if you don't use the bed ? Is it for offroading ?

Where do those sentiments come from?

Just a quick look shows similar or better out of the advertised MPG on full sized, even on the tundra v8. Not my experience either.

When I had a 455 in my driveway, I had a vw cabriolet for those times when I was going to be on the road for more than a few miles. But that was the difference of 5mpg or 40.

spozed to jump up in 30 to 60 days due to mid east unrest. Oil went over 100 again, takes some time to trickle down. Libya shut down production.

This is exactly what I'm going to start doing. Any recommendations on a cheap dependable bike? I figured I would ride it at least 2-3 days out of my 4 day work week.

I have a nice specialized globe. Its a single speed, but it'll do 15mph, and in hawaii its legal to ride on sidewalks if you don't travel at "excessive speed". Not really any shoulders anywhere to ride.
