sortof stock. 6112/5160, pro wheels and a tune.
I sold my '11 reg cab 4x4 two weeks ago and got a '17 BRM SR 2.7 Manual 4x4. It has the convenience package and all that stuff too. I am very impressed how much more ass it has than my '11. My '11 was the 4speed, and it was painfully slow, but- I never had a single issue with it.
The 2.7 in this truck sounds waaaay different that my '11. It honestly sounds sorta like a boxer engine, like a low rumble to it. Why is that?

This is exactly what I didn't want to read lol. I got a '13 regular cab which I love to death, but I've been hearing the dual vvti makes a huge difference. I'm honestly a little scared to test drive one because idk if I'll leave without it

80 uphill has never been a problem here either. Just drop a gear and wind it out.

I don't think the dual vvti makes THAT big of a difference. I think the biggest difference is between having an automatic and manual transmission. For some reason the auto really seems to destroy the 2.7's power.

That could be, I've never driven the auto so I'm not sure how different it is

It's honestly a fantastic truck. When I was shopping, the options in my budget were the Tacoma, Colorado and Frontier.

Manual transmission was a must, on the Tacoma it is a fairly well equipped base model with 4x4. The other two were 4x2, come with next to nothing standard and you can't add much either. Even if 4x4 was an option on these, the taco drove better, had better ground clearance, looked better, was nicer inside on and on.

Needless to say I have the Toyota in the driveway. 4x4 was pretty much a requirement (upstate NY snow+occasional site use) but I still would've picked it had the playing field been level in that respect.

    TLDR: BUY ONE

I noticed that rumble too, it does sound kind of mean sometimes.

I thought it was just me lol. That's one of the reasons I have so much fun driving this 4cyl manual, the feedback you hear from the engine is just cool sounding. No way to describe it. Well to me it reminded me of one of the chase scenes from Ronin.

The only 3 choices for the Manual 4x4 would be the Tacoma, Frontier, and a Ram if you considered Full Size, but the Taco is probably the best choice.

Ram 4x4 MT is around 42k, Frontier is in the 30-32k starting range depending on trim. Both out of my price range, and the 2500 is far more truck than I need for my personal vehicle.

I'm actually surprised there is an American truck with an MT. I had no idea there was an MT RAM. That's kinda nice to know... even if I'm not buying one.

I went and looked at the trucks on the RAM site. I couldn't find which one can be ordered with a manual transmission. Still, when you look at the prices of these full-size American trucks, you're like, "Wait, what?"

Yeah pretty much. The only way you can get that third pedal is on the 2500 series, with the Diesel engine. No doubt it's a badass truck, but I have a feeling it's even harder to find than a MT taco
