We have Olympics as our duty rifles for the TRT group and they are absolutely horrible. We have had everything from trigger pins snap to pieces falling off during firing. I would not recommend them to anyone

Yeah anybody can shoot full auto and I too have put a number of rounds through a M240 and .50. But we are all on the same team! I have to admit I am jealous of your full auto options! I prefer precision myself!

If it was that or nothing I'd take it. But there are way more bang for your buck rifles out there.

Precision is nice when you are dealing with a couple of threats...I would rather use the mini as more of a "psychological" weapon...a bit scary when you have a hundreds of flaming baby fist coming at you.

I've seen some that were ok. But I have personally seen one that keyholed full profile at 25 yards brand new. Turned out the barrel shipped with barely ANY rifling. I too would keep looking.

Why don't you list some $750 "more bang for the buck" rifles that the OP might be interested in since you think DPMS makes the worst AR15 on the market.
Heck, I might be looking for another one in the future and sure would like to save some money on one of these fantastic rifles.

I purchased my personal S&W MP15OR (flat top optics ready) for less than $900 and then over the next year or so I talked with lots of different operators and companies (most of which are VERY cool) to find products that matched what I was looking for. I must say I have over $2K in my carbine as it sits right now but I could not be happier with my build and it is everything I want/need.

AR15.com is a great resource but with all forums you will be overrun with trolls who know it all... Weed through the BS and if it smells like crap it certainly is.

I don't think they make the worst AR15. That title goes to Olympic Arms.
DPMS is a low quality company who's bright spot is the AR10.
As far as other options, I PMed the OP with my thoughts. For instance, the LMT he posted is the best deal I've seen in a long while. I'd take a CMMG bargain bin rifle over a DPMS (http://cmmginc.secure-mall.com/shop/?cat=161).
Model1Sales.com would be a better option as well. You can find Stag rifles in this $ range as well.

I purchased a Rock River Arms Tactical CAR A4. Seems to shoot fine. I've put almost 5,000 rounds through it without a barrel change and still holds a good zero. For optic I have a Trijicon TA31F which is a 4x32 optic with a red chevron which is great for range estimation and the recticle is calibrated for 5.56 flattops out to 800m. Paid around $800 for the rifle at a gun show, purchased a PRI Carbon Fiber free float and then have a Surefire M900A foregrip. Most rifles over $1,000 can outshoot the owner. I'd recommend purchasing a base model, mod it as you see fit and spend time on the range.

Good thing about the AR's is you can switch over to 6.8 Gas piston when you want to without switching your lower.

    Your quote above says different.

Taken directly from cmmg's website. "Bargain Bin"

These won't win any beauty contests, but if you are looking for an affordable shooter, look no further! All rifles are M4 upper receivers and consist of trade-ins, demos, scratched, dented, discolored, over-runs, special buys, uglies, etc. All rifles have been head spaced and test fired and function correctly when shipped. Rifles are sold as-is with no returns.
If in doubt, inquire online, the feedback from these last year was phenomenal. Don't wait too long, these won't last long.
1/9 twist Barrels are Nitrided inside and out for years and years of trouble free operation!
Hand picked rifles will be for over all cosmetics. There is NO choice of make. Rifle includes what is pictured only, no accessories! Lower receiver brands will be Armalite/Eagle, DPMS, Doublestar and CMMG. Actual rifle may vary from photo.

HA! You would steer someone to this so called "Bargain Bin" over a "new" DPMS with an actual warranty, hardcase, a coupla mags, sling and cleaning kit?

Not bustin your chops but that is just plain stupid.
If DPMS were selling junk, they wouldn't be in business very long.

I didn't say they were junk. But they are of such low quailty that I'd rather have a bargin bin CMMG. Lower recievers are pretty much all the same. Just different company logos stamped on. Don't get butthurt on me 'cause you like DPMS and I don't. :)

    Edited to add:
DPMS doesn't make the list. In fact they would be second or third to last on the list if it kept going to the right.
