    I try to avoid ranking them in order, but I won't argue with what XD wrote above.

    There are already several new makers on the Chart. Interestingly some of the most well-established and longest-running names are giving me more trouble than the new kids on the block.

    FWIW, I think Sabre will be out of the loop for quite some time due to various federal charges against their top brass.

    I had a Spike's gun for an article I wrote. I believe I put right at 1k rounds through it, maybe a bit more, or a bit less.

    Best AR for the price IMHO. Provided you avoid the temptation to accessorize out the yazoo. I am personally not a fan of their marketing and public persona, and the rabid "fanboyism" of some of their customers is irksome to say the least, but the guns are a great deal for the price. I'm also not particularly a fan of their ST-T2 buffer and prefer to use the standard "H" marked buffer.

    The brands of ARs that I would spend my own money on right now based on personal experience, number of checkmarks on the Chart, and overall widespread impressions, are (in no particular order):
    Colt
    BCM
    Daniel Defense
    Noveske Rifleworks
    LMT (although it's been a while since I've seen any of their current production come through)

    Outside the purview of the Chart and on the premium end of the spectrum:
    Knight's Armament SR15-E3
    Next Generation Arms X7

    If you plan on shootin A LOT do not go with a RAR. If you are only going to shoot occasionaly than you should be fine. Colt is the gold standard, not many options but the quality it top notch.
    A lot of RAR have function problems out of the box, that is the last thing you want from a new gun.

    That would be funny. My first AR was a RRA Entry Tactical and it was flawless. Not made out of the finest parts but it always got the job done.
