Damnit. Stop it. I didn't put in provisions for bumps up front. Sigh.

We put 2.0 Fox bumps on my buddy's 4x4 FJ with Total Chaos. We cut out the factory bump stop just enough to put the cans in the same spot. I did the same on my prerunner.

Prerunners can do it all day long because there's no CV Axle in the way. 4x4s are a bit cramped. Didn't say it cant be done, where theres a will theres a way, but Its just not recommended

Anyone have any recommended books/websites/small jobs I can do to my car to get a better handle on independent car work? I'm not too knowledgeable and would like to be able to do small work like you said is necessary

I have never heard that it is not reccommended ? When you remove the entire OE bump perch from the frame there is plenty of room to fit a bump even if you have a bypass...it simply occupies the same space as the OE bump

Well, read the Camburg website, its recommend against, plus most fabricators recommend against bumping off the LCA anyways for LT

That's really only when you have a full on race kit that allows you to bump off of the upper...what 3.5" kit even has a horizontal uniball with an UCA that you could bump off of ? but then you also need a full engine cage to mount that bump to. Almost all of the kits have a reinforced bump pad on the LCA ...why would they put it there if they didn't want you to use it ?

All I said is that Camburg recommends against 2nd gen 4x4 LT kits running all 3. You wanna do it, go for it. When a company that designed the product recommends against something, its usually smart to listen to it.

What is their exact reason for stating that, do they provide any details ? Is it simply that too many people make the mistake of running 2.5" stroke bumps and riding their bumps during 90% of the compression stroke thereby killing any of the valving of the CO or bypass ?

Dirt designs 3.5 kit has horizontal uniballs. TC is ok with bumping off the lower arms. The downside to bumping off the lower arms is you'll be into the bumps for more of your bump travel if you plan on using the full stroke of the bump do you how close the bumps are in relation to the pivot point of the arms. Bumping off the uca allows a 1 to 1 ration on bump stop travel. I see no issue on bumping off the lowers on camburg arms. In fact I have a truck sitting in my shop that was previously set up that way by another shop.

If you strike the arm in the same place as the bump stop what's the difference? Now instead of slamming into the rubber bump stop is slowing the arm down with the bump stop.

this is good information has helped me a lot, but I still have one question. I have notice on some trucks have the standard rod end on their coilovers and others have extended rod ends, is there any type of advantage to having the extended vs. standard? I ask because I found where if I build my own coilovers it comes out to be a little cheaper and the rod end was one of the options on the website.

The extended rod ends are used on cap over coilover configuration to allow clearance for the front axles
