I love my access cab, both my '06 and my '18. Don't need a 4 door, if I need to carry the wife and kids, we take her car.

Very nice AC! We do the same, don't need a 4 door since the wife drives a 2019 Camry:

My '06 AC. Needs some work, but will be back up and running in no time!

No regrets on my 16, I love the look of the access cab with long bed. It just had that perfect stance. I miss it, but needed more room.

Just bought a 2019 TRD OR Access Cab. I wanted a long bed for my kayaks and the DCLBs just don't look right to me. I test drove a DCSB for 2 days and didn't find that the backseat had all that much more room than the ACLB. In a little over a month I've been really pleased with my decision. Needed that extra bed space a few times and even had a 13 year old in the back seat who didn't complain about being cramped.

I also think my ACLB drives smoother than the DCSB. It may just be perception though.

I must admit that it was a smoother ride as well.

They’re exactly the same in wheel base and overall length. The extra 1’ of bed space is taken out in the AC cab.

I've noticed a couple of my friends DCLB trucks ride way smoother than my access cab. I think the extra sheet metal between the doors stiffens it up a bit.

Hey Skinny...my 2 bits...You are on right track to wonderful awesome Taco...20190313_085422.jpgI love my blue truck, and can pack other in back if I must.Even if wheeling or goin fo the pub.
As.for other comfort, ya well a 66 Cadillac has more leg room & bit more comfort, so when rear passengers tell me that, I suggest they jump in their car..lol
The short box on double cab, seemed to be gr8 for grocerys & pillows. My long box,6ft+ also me haul camper, firewood, dirt, dirt bike,quad...and even sheet plywood on side.
Each to their own, but I believe after your decision, any Taco is the right decision...best of luck .

Hey guys thanks for all the advice/suggestions and Tom foolery, so more I thought about it.

For me right now, an access cab manual would be the ideal situation.

I question whether that will be the case 5 years down the road if I have screaming kids, little time to ride dirt bikes and when a free non shifting hand will be very valuable.

I’m holding on to my truck for now, if I end up trading it in I probably won’t get another taco. I’m either going to go full on race car or full
    size truck.

You’re only in your early twenty’s once, and to go along with my need for speed with my 600RR, maybe it’s time for a nice 500hp coupe or world rally car and I can buy another Tacoma when they’re all electric and drive for you

    Yes.

I want my truck to have as few doors as possible. Passenger doors are not a pickup truck atrribute. The bed of the truck is. Tiny 5' truck beds are useless. If someday I find that I need more doors and less bed, I figure that I no longer need a truck.

I loved my 2004 access cab with no suicide doors. At least the back windows could be opened for the dog.....

I plan on getting an AC myself. I've got an SUV and the backseat has been used for people on about as many occasions as I can count on my fingers in the four years that I've owned it.

It helps that I'm single and the friends I do have prefer to drive themselves. If I did happen to earn some kids, then I'd likely just pick up a used minivan since you can get a good one for cheap and I have no shame.

Has anyone found a good wheel to wheel step bar that is not the N-Fab Nerf bar? I bought a pair but didn't like how they turned out so I returned them.

Agreed. I would have put thousands of extra miles on the truck if I got double cab. Screw my friends!!!!

Oh, P.S. the DCLB is a land-limo, and the DCSB bed is useless IMO. Prove me wrong :stirthepot:
