    Tacoma is a very respectful truck. Especially when off roading and at the malls. It seems by the sales of the Tacoma trucks each year, owning one is like a dream truck come true. Our dream truck.

    Owning a Tacoma can comes at a cost. Do not let your truck payments , insurance and upkeep, destroy you family life. Your life.

    Some people live for getting the latest new vehicle or the latest cell phones. These things are just materials. If you cannot afford it.

    They'll come down when there is plenty of them to choose from.
    I don't know if that's in the cards or not. Maybe/maybe not. I don't think anyone knows what exactly is going to happen now.

    @Huha

    Have you contacted any financial advisors for advice? I'm sure you could find several that would offer free consultations. Sit down with 3-4, explain your goals or what you'd like to accomplish out of life and see what they would recommend. Then go home and compare their opinions.

    At the end of the day you have to do what makes you happy and make decisions that you can live with. Having debt doesn't make you a bad person or a failure, but you have to plan ahead and know how to manage it.

    All vehicles new and used have issues will depreciate over time. You might be better off keeping the truck than selling and buying something else and instead focusing on other debt/saving for retirement.

    You're smart for seeing whatever situation you're in and wanting to make a change. That's the first step.

    you quoted only part of what I said. When there is a recession, they will come down in price. It’s happened before

    Lots of truth here. I'm at a different stage in my life now, so buying a new truck... even in todays market doesn't really have any effect on my net worth. When I was in my late twenties I got tired of being a slave to credit card debt, I felt like I was drowning and that the future would never change. I sold nearly everything I owned, I cut up every card I had, put my nose to the grindstone and I hustled every job I could find. I made weekly payments on my debt, not once a month. I lived on macaroni, ramen and rice. It sucked and I never want to go back to that.... But then something wonderful happened, I became debt free and I became a greedy, cheapskate. I kept my second job and continued to work weekends and all that money that I was paying to debt was now going into my bank account. When you have cash in your bank account you really have freedom.

    Now is not the time to be buying big purchases unless you can pay cash for them. Selling a truck for a paint issue is stupid... drive that thing until the paint peels off. It's just a car. It's not your identity.... you cannot buy your way out of debt. Without getting political....we are in for a ride and there will be no quick recovery. I wouldn't spend a dollar on anything I had to finance right now. You need to think about 20 years down the road and how you want to live. Get a second job.... hell fast food pays 15-17$ an hour in my area and they don't have enough employees showing up to keep the shifts running. If you need to work 80 hours a week then do it. The only legitimate reason to sell the truck is if it gets you to zero debt and puts enough net cash in your account to buy a daily beater to get you to and from work and you get serious about increasing your net worth. Most don't have the discipline to do this and their ego will get in the way.

    Love him or hate him, start listening to Dave Ramsey for a few years. Find his Financial peace seminar in your area and go get serious about getting your life squared away.

    I wish the OP the best, whatever you decide to do.

    I think his situation to sell the Tacoma is not about the paint job, more as reason to let it go.
    Getting out of debt! Is his main reason. As he mentions.

    He wants our support! You got my support!
